The main story is what the players make of it with their choices. I'd say that's kinda the point of a choice-based VN. Also crazy to me how there's actual Sam vs. Dylan factions. It's...pixels on a computer / phone screen. I mean sure, immersion is a thing, but damn some people act like they are Dylan...or Sam, and Sophia about to climb out of their monitors to suck 'em off or something. lol

Especially since whether or not you play a scene or not is entirely optional. I'm still kinda curious whether it will be possible to keep a decent relationship with Liam and still play the Filthy route. Just enough sex that he thinks he's still the one wearing the pants.
Which makes me annoyed the Morello route is required for the Ellie and Patricia routes. It means for my playthrough I'm probably locked out of both the Mr Harris content this update

In the end it's just a game... If I need to go through specific paths to play the parts I like, I'll do it and just press skip to the scenes I don't want to see to go fast forward. You know you have that option too?

Sure I can TAB or CTRL past the parts I don't like. I did that when I was testing if the Aiden path was required for the Sam route. It's not.
And if there's a scene interesting enough for me to even consider playing the Dylan or Sam route on skip to get to, I'll let you know.

So why AWAM?
I'm not here for the RL experience - I can get that whenever I want, I just need to get up from my keyboard.
I'm here for a light version of porn-world, AWAM rev.
This is Not the Pornhub version (almost all sex, barest hint of a story and Rarely something new).
My version of porn-world, AWAM rev, has:
A good/great engaging story including high quality renders, animations, sound effects and music appropriate to the scenes
Production values that include not just quality of creation but speed of development
Characters I can/do grow to like and root for
A villain(s) to overcome - can't be too over the top - I'm not here for a Dark Souls struggle. The 'villain' can be human, the environment (like a global pandemic...) societal/authoritarian rules etc.
The ability to choose the relationships I want to pursue and not be forced into relationships I don't want, recognizing that others will want 'their' story to be different from mine == and that's fine!
Adult interactions that I choose, and that fit the story and characters I like.
In AWAM, these relationships include:

Bennett and Aiden try to blackmail each other - they both get what they deserve - encounters with their favorite friend -- Ben Dover ... and it's taped by students, released to the public and both disappear in disgrace
Liam is Not an idiot who gambles away his house and has a wife who responds with a 'How Could You' which becomes 'oh well, no big deal' in a few days
Sophia will never be made airtight by some combination of the movers/Bennett/Aiden & his gang/the janitor/the soccer team
I know I will not get my preferred AWAM experience... none of us will, right, but if I am going to dream, why not dream big!
At least my AWAM experience will include some of the above.
Speaking of dreaming big... I'd like my AWAM experience to be completed before I die...

You will be cursed if you put Lord Sam behind Frodo Dylan
Decisions alone do not make an interesting story. It needs consequences, where the actions made in the context of one character have effects on the actions with other characters. That is why especially Dylan and Ellie are so important. Sophia cannot detach herself emotionally from them because they are her children, so in a good story, the two react to the actions Sophia has with other characters and possibly even be involved (whether directly or indirectly). That is why, for example, a decision in relation to Dylan to either have a more romantically mindset about Sophia or also like to watch her doing stuff with others, allows for a good story.
Only through consequences, there are also some truly exciting events.Especially when you look at the combination between Dylan/Sophia/Amber/Sam, there is a lot of potential. Take the event in the pool as an example. Here, the competition between Sam and Dylan was the trigger for an event that would have had much less meaning and, above all, would have been much less excitetent without the presence of Sam and Sophia. Also, the event between Sophia and Sam, was made more exciting by the possibility of them being caught by others close to them. Decisive for a good story here is not only what happens between Sophia and Sam, but the consequences this event may have on their environment. Just imaging Dylan will be able to watch them some day. This makes an interesting story, because it would have an impact on him and therefore also on Sophia.

Let me play my broken record once more: if one month it had dropped below 1,000, we'd see a sudden and significant improvement in development pace and his work ethics overall. There's a slim chance he could lose his interest altogether, but that would mean finding some actual job, which I presume is a no no.
The pattern you just observed has been embraced by him long ago and is perfectly ok with him. The 600 he gains right before the release pays him a bonus for the traditional post-release vacation.

L&P was in Germany before were the average graduate salary for an employee with a UNI degree is around 2500 euros after taxes and insurance. I believe he is in Switzerland now where salaries are better plus reduced tax rates but still they can not reach his income from AWAM. Please add that is much better to be self employed.

Usually, I would make a post on what I think is going to happen in the next update, or at least what I would do. However, this time around, I'm like, meh, can't even be bothered. This VN is fascinating from a developer standpoint but I hate to say it, but this slow-burn storytelling is getting old. I'm all for taking your time and still say that even though there has not been sex, there have been a lot of really hot scenes but heck, AWAM needs something big, something that shakes up everything, either Sophia has sex or there is a major consequence for Sophia in regards to something.
Was a perfect chance in the last update to shake things up by having Julia actually catch Sophia and Sam. We know this update won't have sex, as Dylan only catches up with Sam but doesn't go further. Maybe we find out Dylan was watching from the bedroom and did see Sam with Sophia but doubt it, as the convo Dylan had in his head with himself in the car, no doubt he mention it there if he was watching.
I'm so over the slow burn in this and losing interest in AWAM.

As someone who enjoys slow burns to build up to sex the problem seem to be the number of possible partners and the development time. The dev builds up the anticipation for sex and when it seems there will be some they stop in order to focus on the buildup of another character. This become a bigger problem when the focus is on a character(s) the player may not be into.
The way other games I enjoy seem to get around this is by having updates focus on multiple characters per update. An example may be that instead of focusing on just Dylan the update should also focus on Ellie. Next update could be Sam and Patricia or something like that. This way its possible that players can still be entertained if they aren't into one of the focused characters considering the time needed between updates.

I agree the last update was disastrous bad. He has always liked to troll us, but with the last update and then with 6 progress rings afterwards, which are all meaningless as the past has shown, he has reached a new level of foolery.
This game is so funny sometimes. It's painfully obvious the boys are underaged in authors mind. "Parental activities", "Kids these days are more informed and understanding than we were in their age" but "I caught my 12 years old sister riding her boyfriend reverse cowgirl"?

Sometimes with these VN's It feels like devs just do slow burn for the sake of slow burn, not to actually build any tension. There is a sweet spot IMO with VN's that devs can find, that builds tension without becoming boring. but most either have just a pointless brainless fuck fest, or a war and peace length slow burn to no end

It would take alot longer to add more characters per update, considering how long Dev time already is for these relatively short updates
