Hello guys, need your opinion!
We all know that the main problem of the game is a huge amount of renders per each event, because of that one update with one event takes about 4 months to produce.
So I decided to make an experiment. I've downloaded CGs from the last 0.190 update, reduced the amount of images from 414 to 160 and uploaded on Mega: Mega
So I need your opinion. Which is better: 414 images that took 4 months to produce, or 160 images which could be possibly rendered only in 1,5 months?
Putif you'd choose 160 images version with only 1,5 months of development!
Putif you prefer 414 images version with 4 months of development!
Putif you want to see even smaller amount of renders to make updates even faster!
That's a good suggestion actually, 420 renders for a single event is ridiculous. I think 200 renders is the sweet spot, 150 seems a bit low for that much text. It will for sure reduce the development time.
If you think about it, it is one lewd event but kind of 2 events in total. The club date and the hot-tub part.
I will take a look at the images but I for me, for the hot-tub part, I enjoyed all the renders. Would I have enjoyed the story with less renders as well, probably, but I still enjoyed them and would prefer to have them as they are.
However for any non-lewd events, less renders is definitely a good way to go.
What I want to say though, as someone who has rendered a few scenes, similar renders, with smaller differences between them take a lot less to set-up than completely new ones.
If only the facial expression changes, in reality, one can only render the face, and copy it onto the previous image for the new image. You don't need to re-render the whole scene. It also consumes a lot less time to prepare the scene when you just have to change a facial expression, compared to change the posing for both characters, especially if there is touching/interaction between them or between them and different props.
So if you cut out half the scenes, most of them being scenes with small changes in them, you won't half the time. You probably just take out a good amount of scenes, lowering the time by only 10-30%.
