My example was basically some of the Japanese games, where you can stay pure whole game, but if to the end of the game you decide to dip your toes in lewd stuff it is instantly whole village gang banging you with 'insert any kink you can think off' out of the blue. Because all the lewd development leading to this 'downfall' was optional and the scenes were tied to main story progression, not character development.
What if developer already made a cohesive story allowing you to avoid 'kink scenes' but forcing you to participate in story driven/character development ones.
I mean, I understand your point with those japanese games, but I think they are kind of an outlier, since they are even more meant in a way that you should not have an actual pure route. At least those I have played with male or female protagonists, the female LI/MC was either completely corrupted or there was no sexual content at all. Which just showed that there is not supposed to be a Pure Route.
I would say that the same is basically true for Western games, since the goal in the end is to have sexual content. So it would be true for Abnormal, but I would also say that not many people would actually go for a Pure Route and even if they would do, they should be free to do so.
But I think avoiding certain characters is still fine. In the end, you still have a somewhat logical progression, if there is enough content overall. E.g. currently you would not be able to avoid any Lesbian-scenes, simply because all we have is Lesbian und teasing. But it is very likely that heterosexual lewd scenes will also come up and maybe some people would want to skip those, because they started the game when the focus was heavily on lesbian content.
And then people should be able to decide themselves what they want - male content? Incest? Up to them, but I guess people who decide against certain kinks or characters also know and accept that they will have less content.
For me personally, if something makes Steph sluttier, I pick it. I am a simple man.
