It's not about space, it's about the fact that i have more than 500 Renpy save folders and i don't remember which game they're from: i have a folder named "test4-1587319361", another one "Test-1490227962" and another one "Test-1612319185". How the fuck should i remember the game they represent? With over 500 folders it's necessary to do some decluttering especially on abandoned games like this who will never be updated again.
Well, once again, there's still a chance this could be updated. The dev did reply in March of this year on his Discord. I'm not saying to expect an update; I have no idea what's going on and can only assume it's likely this game is dead. And if you don't have faith this will ever get updated again, that's your choice; and ofc it's understandable. Still, I really don't think deleting a single folder from
%appdata%/RenPy is going to help you all that much. If you already have, let's say, 501 folders there I strongly doubt lowering that to 500 folders really is going to matter, either. I really don't know why you need to declutter anything from that folder, but it's your preference, it seems.
FFR, you can actually easily find out what the folder's called by using
UnRen on any game, looking at the
options.rpy file (sometimes placed in a secondary folder within the
game folder), and seeing what the save folder is called (just do a find within that file to see). I have a huge number of save folders as well. It's pretty easy to go find the folder usually, and if it's unclear I do exactly what I described above to find the folder name. (FYI, the folder for this game is called
AboveTheClouds-1617038687, so it wouldn't seem deleting it would help with the similar-folder-name confusion.)
Anyway, I don't really care what you do on your own computer, though I would recommend at least keeping a backup of the saves folder somewhere, like maybe on an external hard drive or a thumb drive or something. Should this game ever make some kind of comeback, you'll for sure have to restart unless you have a backup.
Suggestion Only: If the confusion bothers you so much (even outside of this specific game), why not keep a text file for the games you have and pair each game you list there with the name of its save folder?
