MessiahXxIn the beginning, I lived by the rule "show, don’t tell," but I think in the cinematic experience I was going for, it made the pacing feel rushed. So you need to let me know how bigger focus on narration worked for you. I think it works pretty well.
When I’m done finishing the last scene, I’ll focus on final polish before the release.
Off the top of my head, I think the way the cinematic experience is usually handled in adaption is somewhat detrimental in comparison to movie scripts made originally for movies. In (A)VNs you have the freedom to express more details and lore and as such give the player a better possibility of understanding your world. I like how you address that you don't want to rush out story milestones for the sake of product quality/player experience.
