New development cycle, so the first devlog is public! It's also going to be on the longer side, so grab something to drink.
First of all, I hope you enjoyed Chapter 3. In less than a week it was downloaded almost twice as much as Chapter 2 on Itch (the only real metric I got), so I'd say it was a success!
Now, I wanna take the time to set expectations for chapter 4, when it'll be released and maybe give a bit of insight behind my decisions.
Chapter 4 is going to be a bit more chill than the previous one and a bit more "personal".
We got the arrival of Stella, the big date with Sarah, the "competition" between Alex and Emily, Jessica beginning to realize her feelings and whatever the fuck is going on with the Fujikawa sisters.
Not a lot of things, but definitely a lot of paths and variations. Let's take, for example, the prologue. It's got:
- 2 variations based on the Corpo path;
- 2 variations based on if you're on Stella's path;
- 2 variations for Stella's path (you can still back out of it);
- 2 variations for Stella's adult fun time scene (she will have the opposite alignment of MC in regards to bottom/top stuff).
- 2 variations for Arisu's path, if eligible.
...this will amount to over 160 renders, of which any single playthrough will see 50 to 80. And that's BEFORE the title screen drops.
So yeah, shit gets big fast. And there's a lot of multiple path that require scene variations.
Can I do it? Of course. But I want to do it well, and this takes time.
I aim to release Chapter 4 at the end of June/beginning of July(just in time for Pride Month), with the option open for a .5 release for supporters only in case real life gets in the way.
Because, real talk here, the only reason I was able to release 3 chapters in 3 and a half months is because I'm currently in-between jobs. Don't worry, I landed on my feet, but if/when I find a new job I'll have less time to do this.
(This is also a great time to thank all of the supporters. The money I got from this, while might not seem a lot, really made these past few months less stressful.)

...I don't have a good segue, but I did stuff this week!
If you're on Discord you have probably seen that I made a new main menu! It was completely unnecessary and it took way more time than I thought it would!
It's essentially a video behind an overlay, but I like it! All the renders I used for it will be available later in the month for Roommates and above to download in FullHD (I tried making them in 4k, my PC almost died).
I also wrote the prologue and started rendering it, the adult scenes between MC and Stella are definitely on the kinkier side (as always you'll have the option to avoid unwanted content, like spanking and feet stuff) and are completely different between the bottom and top paths.
Speaking of, it has come to my attention that some people might have missed this: the replay gallery is programmed so that when you start playing a scene it'll give you a prompt to choose to see the bottom or top variant. Just so you don't have to keep too many save files to see all the content.

This has been a busy week IRL. Things happened that took me away from the PC, but I still managed to do some stuff!
For one, the Mega-Bundle I've been a part of for the past few weeks has reached one of it's goals and I had to do a bunch of renders as a reward. I'll keep you posted on when/where you'll be able to find them!
For two, I made this masterpiece that I will never stop posting everywhere. This has been a busy week IRL. Things happened that took me away from the PC, but I still managed to do some stuff!

I don't wanna spoil too much, but Chapter 4 will ship with the first of the 9 planned endings. This is an early ending, so it's going to be quite short, but it still required new models and assets so that alone took away a full day to write and render.
As for the more general progress, we got about 250 renders out of the planned 700 (which might end up being 800+ at this pace). All the variations of the prologue have been done, I have 3 out of 4 variations of the long talk with Arisu and I'm starting to work on the flashback 'cause I'm tired of seeing the same couch all day.
This was a shorter one, but that's what happens when life gets in the way of making cute girls doing cute stuff. I'll see you next week with another devlog and the download of the FullHD version of the renders used for the new intro video!

For those who got better stuff to do than read my rants: I'm halfway there with rendering, technical difficulties slowed me down, 17 special renders for Roommates and above on Sunday.
With that out of the way, hi! How's it going? Are you keeping yourself healthy?
The rendering process is progressing slowly, I'll get to why later.
Render count is now at 403 of the projected 800, projection that might need to be adjusted AGAIN 'cause there's a threesome that is getting close to 100 renders by itself and it's still missing the top variant.
People will be reading the amount of render in the changelog, then play the game and be like "where the hell are all these new renders?" 'cause they are getting spread out through all possible paths.
Now, the other good news: supporter rewards! This sunday I'll be uploading the promised pack with all the new 1080p renders used to make the new main menu, plus one unused one, plus a very cute and wholesome scene, plus 2 phone wallpaper renders of MC and Emi in both SFW and NSFW version, to a total of 17 items!
So, earlier I mentioned problems and slowdowns. I'm not gonna sugarcoat it, I'm kinda fucked.
This past week ol' reliable mini-pc has slowed down considerably, it freezes and crashes at random and is generally being a pain in the ass to work with. My rendering output has been cut by a third on average (and in some days even more) and I'm trying to squeeze any render time I can from my daily schedule.
Hopefully it'll chug along until at least the end of the chapter, but if the worst happens (and I'm bracing for it) I just want you to be aware that I will let you all know immediately, stop all payments and release whatever I have managed to make, before putting everything on hiatus. I have no way of replacing it for the foreseeable future, so it'll be game over.
I seriously hope it won't come to that, but life has a way to kick you while you're down, so I honestly won't be surprised to see the thing that has given me more pride and joy in the past 10 years being yanked away from me. But at least we can be sure that the game will have AN ending, 'cause the early one has already been rendered.

HanakoXVN there are a couple of reasons computers can have those symptoms. the 2 biggest are overheating and memory issues. You mention having it for 10 years IIRC? uhm when was the last time you shut it off and cleaned it? Dust can build up inside the cooling portions (fans and radiator fins). When this occurs, it can prevent the machine from cooling correctly and when pushed; like graphical rendering; it can overheat and just shut down as a measure of preservation.
As for memory issues: You may need to get a computer program like CC Cleaner and have it scan your system. I use it once a week. It removes temporary files which can clog things up and if to many old pieces of info are run it can freeze up more machine. I hope this may help you. Loving your AVN.

It's neither of those. Temperatures are stable within the 60-65°C range while rendering, both SSDs have over 300gb of empty space and use CCleaner regularily.

just make sure to back up your stuff regularly (preferably to something not in your PC), other devs lost significant chunks of their work to storage failure, and recovery is a bitch
it could be a power supply issue or a damaged graphics card but if it was a the graphic card the pc would crash but it wouldn't shutdown on it's own... could also be a damaged cpu fan, pc won't overheat but it will get to a point where it crashes. also is he running win 10 or 11?

As usual, for those with better things to do: new work schedule lets me work more efficiently, good progress has been made.
Did you know that a +1 Extreme Speed, Life Orb, Tera Normal Dragonite with Helping Hands is a guaranteed 2HKO against a bulky Incineroar?
Why do I know this? 'Cause this week I changed my work schedule and I've been playing some Pokèmon while rendering.
For those worried about the dire state of my rig, proposed solutions and even reached out to get some updates, relax!
I changed both banks of RAM and, after a clean DAZ reinstall, the crashes have stopped. The general slowness persists while rendering, but it's fine, I can work around slow.
So what's the state of the update? It's going pretty well, all things considered. So well, in fact, that for the first time in over a month I took a day off today to just do nothing.
I set myself some goals to meet in terms of numbers of renders for the week and I crushed those goals. The current render count is 634 out of the projected 800 (more on this later).
But how? How did I get MORE work done than normal with a PC in worse conditions? New schedule!
Instead of working in the afternoon and evening on the scenes that will be rendered during the night, I worked in the morning, rendered those scenes in the afternoon, then worked again in the evening and rendered those scenes, plus those that were left over from the afternoon, during the night.
I don't know if this schedule is sustainable, I had a pretty "empty" week, but I'll try to use as much as I can.
Now, what follows is light spoilers for Chapter 4, so you might want to close the tab here if you don't wanna see anything.
For the rest of you, here's a simple graph of Chapter 4:
This is a tree of the story/scenes progression of the chapter. The ones with a green dot are fully rendered, while yellow dots mean that I'm not 100% satisfied and either needs more work or potentially a rewrite (in Jess' case).
As you can see there's a lot of green. I'm mostly set on what the "unrendered" scenes are going to be, except for 2:
- Jessica was supposed to have a sort of mini-date, but this update is taking a long time and the pacing is already wonky as fuck, so I might just set it up and have it proper in the next chapter, maybe with more character development.
- Sarah's date.
Sarah's date is the big creative roadblock I'm facing with this chapter. I went through and wrote several ideas, but none of them left me satisfied. This is the big challenge I'll have to face next week but, once I'll overcome it, it'll (hopefully) be all smooth sailing from there.
