I would say most people in the world have never heard of him. Me included.
Yeah, I know him. He's a historic manager in wrestling. But I'm someone who's been watching WWE for years, so it's not really a surprise. It's pretty normal not to know him if you don't watch wrestling at all.

Congratulations on finishing the game, though I am a little confused. Why don't we see the direct aftermath of the story? Violet is either shot on the roof or in the elevator then it just jumps forward a few months or years?
There is an answer: rewrites.
Originally there was going to be a "fake-out" bit, a-la 6th installment of a certain Japanese game made by Sega about a man in a white-gray suit before, going into the endings, but the original draft sucked.
Then I pivoted to having a scene of "chosen girl(s)" rushes to the hospital and has a heartfelt speech with MC in a coma, but it was depressing as fuck and very ripetitive.
In the end I decided to have the aftermath of the tower assault just be mentioned in passing in certain endings and have it shown in Arisu's ending... until that too turned out depressing as fuck and I changed it to what it is now.
I'm aware that the end result can be a bit jarring, but it's the best I could do after writing myself into a corner with that bullet.

I would say most people in the world have never heard of him. Me included.

I went into that ending being full aware that 99% of people would not get all the references in it, from the the wrestling memes, to the announcers, to the commercial playing on TV. Honestly, it's all there just to get a crack out of my friends and the select few who can get hyped just by reading the phrase "FINISH! THE! STORY!". :ROFLMAO:

I found a couple of spots in the ending were a bit too brief. For example, only one ending path actually explained the backstory of how MC met Valerie. Two (I think) that gave a quick sentence or two about having meeting her, and the rest she was just "there". This part could have had a bit of 'repetitiveness', or perhaps different reasons how they met her and the adoption. I didn't play the full explanation playthrough until the third one and then the lightbulb clicked on for me.

A few passing thoughts on a few of the endings:
  • I loved the Alex solo ending, and could have read another half hour about how their dynamic worked. I'm a fan of the "male soap opera" that is wrestling; and seeing the whole Emily/Valerie dynamic back home was so much fun.
    • I don't have an issue with a joke that a small percentage of the readers may get. I'm often in the "didn't get it" camp and am ok with that. I personally loved this one.
  • I loved meeting Jessica's parents and grandmother. The gaming grandpa left me laughing while he and Valerie were discussing a boss fight. And then the grandma joining in on the gaming discussion.
    • I would have loved to seen a couple of the other girls families or personal backgrounds.... even if it was brief and less dramatic than Jess'.
  • Sarah's ending, to me, was a bit too brief. But what was there was done pretty well. Would have liked to have seen a bit more about her, and how things developed outside of her big new job and one lewd scene.
  • Riri's solo path was very detailed and probably one of the longest in my mind. Covering issues with her running the corp, the problems it introduced with Valerie, and her decision to step back as CEO.
  • The partial and full harem paths were pretty well done. Without taking two hours to explain all the nuances, I think it summarized them pretty well. I'd never say no to more time spent on how the actual relationships/dynamics within them would have developed.
  • Does Janice have an actual ending? I tried a solo playthrough path with her, and unless I missed something along the way I never got an ending with her on it. I haven't looked at the code itself.
Overall, I'd say very well done! I found the story entertaining, the characters appealing, and overall a success. Great job!

Game is amazing, congrats for the final release !

I only played Jessica solo ending so far, and it was awesome.

I will do the other endings soon, but I had to marry my blonde ponytail first.

Wow, is no one gonna talk about this?

screenshot0003.png

Not only did a developer finish their game without repackaging endings as dlcs and also do it in a span of a year and a few months but we're also getting a sequel that continues the story of the first game with the harem protagonists' kid. That's rare in my book xD.

You know how most harem mc's and endings just show the life after and the kids with the LIs? well over here in actual roommates we're going to play as the Violet's daughter in the sequel who's probably going to make her own sapphic harem like her mother. Plus, the possibilities of characters from the first game making a cameo in the second, oh boy. Especially with the harem endings, Valerie just goes saying "oh yeah I have like 8 moms" to her friends is wild XD

anyway... this

Also, lemme guess, she was playing summer in the city wasn't she? xD

Have definitely enjoyed this game, so here's hoping it all works out well, but the whole not-the-main-protagonist-when-you-pretty-much-just-want-more-main-protagonist-adventures thing is where the whole Kushiel's Dart books went way off the rails for me, (was definitely a favorite for the first two Phedre books). Different strokes for different folks, of course, and, as I said, this was so well done there's no way I wouldn't try the next, I'll just probably fully detach them in my head-canon so I don't get Imriel feels. Thanks so much for this one, though - was great!

So trying this out and it's pretty fun so far but is there a change in personality or girls you can hook up with in that big choice in chapter 2 to apologize or mock the person who is fighting you?

Haven't started the VN yet. I'm stuck at the main menu. More specifically, rocking out to the intro music. I think I'm on the third playthrough at the moment.

From the beginning guitar it got me hooked!

Great new devlog:

And we are back! Not that I've ever left, but still... you know what I mean.

After having (hopefully) done almost all the work necessary for the Steam Release for AR1 (only thing that should be missing is implementing all the achievements), doing a bunch of custom stuff for the game and finalizing the designs for all the main characters and most of the environments for AR2, I've finally started rendering it!

Since I'm not bound by the lower definition and lower quality assets I was forced to use at the beginning of AR1, when I had the shittiest PC imaginable, this time I'm not holding anything back using everything I've learned in this past year and pushing my workhorse of a 3060 to it's absolute limits.

Added to the fact that I need getting used to posing and dressing the new characters, as well as the way they speak and their personality, this means that I'm starting off a bit slow, but I'm sure I'll pick up speed and find a good pace as things progress.

But since the outline of the first chapter has been written and work on the game has officially begun, I wanna talk a little about what to expect from the game, what will be similar to AR1, what will be different, etc... :

- One girl with many: the plan for the relationships is the same as AR1, no girl's path will be mutually exclusive with another. You'll be able to romance all 6(7) main girls with a sprinkling of secondary girls on the side. There is one kind of exception, but more on that later. I'm not interested in writing about cheatings, betrayals and relationship dramas of that kind.

- Deeper characters, hopefully: in AR1 the result of the combination of me not knowing what I was doing, rewriting things at the last minute and trying to keep the main story fast-paced, was that some characters felt really underdeveloped.
By shifting the story to more of a slice-of-life type of things instead of a gigantic corporate conspiracy (though don't worry, ridiculously dumb shenanigans will still happen) I want to find more times to actually develop the 6(7) main girls personalities a bit more and hopefully create deeper relationships.

- Still very dumb: the jokes literally start from frame 1. There will still be something very fucking dumb that may or may not lead to a shirtless fight on top of a tower. Everyone is still very fucking horny. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

- Better sex: one of criticisms that I received, and the one that I'll keep in the back of my mind the most, is that the sex scenes kinda get a bit boring and formulaic towards the end of AR1. I admit I was quite tired by the time I got to the last 2 chapters and I kinda phoned it in, going for quantity over quality. I want to do better than that and I'll try my best.

- STILL NO NTR OR DICKS: ...this is pretty self-explanatory, really.

- Cats: there is at least one cat.

Now... let's talk poly:

One thing that got asked often is "why don't the other girls do anything to each other during sex" or "why are they only romantically involved with MC and not each other too".
This was, and still is, a deliberate choice on my part. I personally have nothing against polyamory (and if you are poly, keep reading, trust me), but it never FELT right to have it happen in AR1.
Also my adult gaming "career" was shaped by hanging around places where if another person aside from the MC even so much as looked at one of the LIs there would be pitchforks raised and heads rolling.
But I'm nothing if open to "experiment" and to challenge myself creatively, so here's my plan to appease that crowd and not alienate those who just want uncomplicated horny lesbians...

The reason I keep writing 6(7) girls is that there are 7 main Love Interests, but only 6 relationship paths.
Becky and Miho are a couple and will be very upfront and very open about their relationship and the potential involvment of the MC in it (after some optional fun in chapter 1).
For the Polys, I hope that I can treat the subject with respect.
For the nons, I hope that you can trust me in not getting you burned and to keep things drama-free on the romance-side.

...that said the farm girl that is still in the closet is not going to stick her fingers in the metalhead that literally starts drooling the moment she sees MC in a crop top.

I think I've yapped long enough. Next week I'll dive into the game's "mechanics" and talk more about the potential story paths.

I also may annoy all of you to go and wishlist AR1 whenever Steam is done with their review process.

See you next week!
