Ok, I have been noticing a major issue with the 18+ visual novels they all hit the same notes between Harem hotel to Deviant Anomalies. it is like they're copying and pasting from each other of late tho they're not the worst ones there prob worse still that I just don't know about it.

make a better one. and I'm not joking or being sarcastic. it's the only way to improve things.
I would but honestly I know I would fall into the same traps and I am just pointing it out trust me I would never finish it in time star citizen would be finished by the time I got down with act 1

Download Daz3D or HoneySelect, riff off a game that's already popular, earn somewhere near $30 an hour to watch youtube tutorials and make promises.
It's a hell of a grift, I'm not even mad about it.

Sad but true honesty I thought HH could of been something but the dev got lazy and Operation Lovecraft is in dev hell and Deviant Anomalies had something good going on with the whole mystery aspect

So let me get this straight, you played a few honey select games in the past and at the time they looked original and even impressed you.

But now when you see other devs doing exactly the same thing the games you mentioned were already doing a few years ago, suddenly the concept isn't original anymore, just because now you aren't completely oblivious as you were in the past.

And if I'm wrong, try and explain objectively why they suck now and not then, especially considering the games you mentioned are anything but original...

Visual novels suck?
What is next.
Water is wet?
Fire is hot?

Visual novels have always sucked.
A few exceptions exist but they where never good.

Gameplay is what keeps players invested.
Not horrible written story 7341879.
I will never understand the appeal of visual novels.
Might as while watch point of view porn.
You get the exact same experiance but you dont have to click to continue the story.

More of the writing in some areas while different enough like Deviant is a solid mystery, thriller. While HH is a story based on elf’s slavery and how capitalism is bad etc.

What I don’t care for how much sexual harassment is some of these works.

Two examples deviant you can take full advantage of a cam girl no joke it’s a choice or attempt to rape a unconscious character around the 1st hour.

HH you can sexual harass an autistic character in a public area after taking a jog where’s the logic in the writing here why would you write that.

I know it’s smut but still have it make sense

To be honest I think VNs excel at sex scenes, if they're done well. A lot of the 2D artists seem to get that and a focus on story helps, even if the story can't stand on it's own without putting boobs on the screen to hold your attention.

Then check out deviant it’s got some decent puzzle around the church area that threw me off with it felt like playing a good old school point and click game from the 2000s

From memory:
Free cites.
Lab rats 2.
Superpowered.
Station master.
Erakoh.
Evil guards of the merchant disctrict.
Hentai highschool+

Basic.
I enjoy management games.
I enjoy manipulating stats.

I dont understand the appeal of visual novels.
It is just an(often poorly done) story where you better of skiping to the sex scene.
Might as while just watch a hentai or porn.
Same results less effort.

Skyrim is played to this day.
Sims is still populair.
Factorio sold massive copies.

Games are interactive.
You have control over the outcome.
Even if the story is unchanging.

An example:
Urge to molest and its sequal has very simple risk management gameplay.
Good dialog, Good sex.
But the thing that kept me invested is the feeling of risk.
And my skill to rape her without being caught.

Lab rats 2 allows for massive change's to personality, looks and skill.
Via the use of potions and pursation.
In free cities i can make everything from sociaty that things slave's are expendable.
To a sociaty that thinks female family shoud all be well taking care of slaves.
In superpowered you change how some scenes go based on stats.

In skyrim i can be a mage, a stealth archer, a idiot who runs into melee.
In sims i can have kids, raise them, have an affair, be a loyal husband, Be a succsefull wizard, etc.
I can create whatever(none criminal) life i want.
Space engineers has me do nothing but build, redisgned and rebuild ships.
No reason other then i can.
But it is fun because i build something.
Learn what i did wrong and improve upon the design.

Still going to praise it for having accauly gameplay.
Your fixation on gameplay is strange. You judge gameplay in a porn game by if you would still play the game without porn. VNs are the same - if the story is good enough without porn, then why not read it? Or what, reading books is not cool nowadays?

Plus what to do with things like Seinarukana? It has gameplay and not that little amount of it, yet it took me about 3 hours of reading to get to the tutorial fight and like 6-7 hours to the first actual fight. A lot of games end by the time you spent reading to get to the gameplay there.

The thing is.
They call visual novels games.
And are therefore judge by the standerd of being a game.
If they just reclassified them for what there where.
Picture books.
I woudnt care less.
Granted i would like it if there was a way to not have the visual novels via search but many visual novels dont get tagged visual novel.

Not my type of game.
I am happy for people who enjoy that kind of game.
But it is not for me.

Reading is not the issu here.
The issu is that video games are to be played not read.
I played wrath of the rightious a few dozen times.
Same with dragon age origin.
Both got enough words to fill a novel.
Reading isnt the issu.
The lack of gameplay is.
