hey
PastryIRL what's your thoughts on adding battle formations? both to the player and enemy. where melee attacks can only hit the front line unless certain exceptions are made (the use of lurk for example) until the front line gets downed.
on one hand this would make darkness' role of tanking hit infinitely easier. on the other hand... kazuma or chris evasion tanks with eris evasion blessings would be OP as fuck. but regardless of that there's plenty of enemies that use AOE attacks, use ranged attacks, or can bypass the front line just by being a flying unit (bats and ghosts for example).
battle formations in combination with some new armors for the party, i can finally stop fretting about aqua getting downed by birdheads in 2 hits on turn 1 of any given battle. >_>
but yea, smarter enemies using formations to block our melee attacks from reaching their back lines as easily would add to balance out the perks too i'd think. and dumb enemies wouldn't even have any at all. might be a little tricky for you to visually to separate the two, but i this idea is worth pondering at the least.
