Hey, Adventurers!

v0.2.0a is now in Public Access! It fell short of my intended targets for content, but it's still a good-sized update. Lots of gameplay/technical changes and improvements, three new H-scenes, a bunch of fixes, and a much-awaited infinite dungeon!

The game looks good and I kind of want to try it, but I'm kind of conflicted. Is it worth the effort it would take to customize the hard scripted MC name? I saw kojos3000's post and it almost seems like the Dev is going out of there way to make it as obnoxious as possible to fix.

Tremendous update. I loved the intro videos. The only thing I wish is for, as a fervent self inserter, is that you could change the name of the MC in the beginning, and be able to change all of its various versions.

Luckily I have URM so I can just do the rename text function, but it's annoying each time I see another version of the name, I'm not experienced with manipulating strings in Python/Ren'Py and making Aqua's drunken dialect based on a variable, but maybe in the case where a custom MC name is being used, an alternative could just be that when drunken-speech it is just italicized or bolded.

Any chance anyone has a more complete list to make it easier?

Brother it is a Konosuba game with Kazuma as the protagonist, it’s literally the plot.
Why is there this obsession with renaming all MCs.

The first versions before the rework had a blank name protagonist, but neither Pastry and some fans liked it so they returned with the original (Goat) Kazuma.

Not playing a game just because you cannot rename the MC is crazy imho (Especially when this one is incredible)

Adding a custom name option isn't that simple in this case; characters often refer to Kazuma using his various (canon) nicknames like Trashzuma, Scumzuma etc., which are variations of his name. That, of course, doesn't work for custom/user-defined names.

On top of that, there are multiple cases where characters (Yunyun in particular) stammer, turning "Kazuma" into "K-K-Kazuma", or instances of Aqua being drunk and slurring the name, turning it into "Kazhuma-a ..~", neither of which would work with custom names.

Sure, I could invest time and effort to separate the two, completely ignore Kazuma's nicknames for custom characters, and maybe even have an automatic name transformation for cases like slurring/stammering... But it'd take away from the writing (which would be my biggest gripe with it), and use up a lot of my bandwith since this would require time and effort to implement and support in every new release.

this is a paody game tho bro. it makes little to no sense to rename kazuma at all. adding to that there's just WAY too many puns on his name to be worth it.

however if this was an original story with an original MC i would agree with you. but not with this game.

Fair enough, you have to do what you think is best for your story. Not really holding anything against you at all, just looking for ways to make it more relevant to my interests because I think the game looks great, I just hate hard scripted MC names.

hmm, in that case i have an alt suggestion. keep the broken current health carry over but remove doppel aqua's over healing ability. and set a mana cap on them so it doesn't punish the players too much for overhealing themselves.

I wonder how many people actually opt out of routes instead of going full harem, and which characters are the least popular by that metric

Normally, I would not leave anyone out of a harem ending, but in this case, I don't even want to see Megumin less than fully dressed, I would be happiest if she wasn't even an option. She doesn't look like she has even started puberty. It's pretty gross.

But since you say she can be skipped, I will give this a try, I love the rest of the cast. But any game where she is mandatory, is not one I can bring myself play.
