This here, along with playing windowed + "disable notifications" + compatibility mode (windows 10 [my system is on W11 though]) + compressed version (0.31) just barely got me through Sofia's scene. If I press H to hide dialog while the animation was playing out, the game would insta-crash. Gotta say, this was a big letdown for me, since the scene is gorgeous and very hot. At this point, I'd honestly prefer just a slideshow rather than an animation that is so high quality it almost blows up my potato. Sheesh.NaughtyDeveloper

options.rpy
line 169
define config.image_cache_size = 1024
to
define config.image_cache_size = 512
solves the memory leak
tested with quality mode
windowed and fullscreen
notification alert on and off
3x tested to be sure
idk where this param is linked to and why this behaviour but it does the trick
btw i still think "fps4video = 120" is a bit overkill for an avn - dont you think?
i get the same results of quality with 30 fps
hint : a simple trick to free the memory
play in window-mode
if it starts with the weird leak simply change to fullscreen and back , or just move the window a bit
clears the memory of junk

You don't.I haven't seen anyone else with this question, but how do you load a saved game from version .3d to version .31? My load screen is blank. Hope this isn't s stupid question.
- Rewritten Base Code:
- Old save files are no longer compatible due to a complete rewrite of the base code.
- Save File Improvements:
I've spent several thousands of dollars on my gaming rig. So has the dev that is developing this game. The problem isn't the developer, the problem is you. You need to understand, and QUICKLY, that hardware has an expiration date. If you're playing on a lap top so out of date that it struggles to run any Ren'Py games, that thing has long exceeded its planned obsolescence. In which case you've got significantly bigger problems than struggling to run the games, like the fact that thing is cooking itself bc the thermal paste has long dried up and burnt away.Decided to try the game out yesterday, was having a great time until I got to the Sofia scene. I went through the thread and saw that a lot of folks had issues with it. Mine seem to be a bit different since it's not a crash - it just kills my potato pc as soon as the animations come into play.
I tried playing the original game, couldn't, so I downloaded and switched to the compressed version - felt no difference at all. I loaded a save that is right in the middle of the scene (where I managed to save before forcefully closing the game out, since it hogged even the resources needed to move my mouse.
Didn't yet try the window mode stuff - will try now. And hadn't tried playing in "compatibility mode". Will activate it now as well.
Still it's wild to me that a ren'py game is causing me these issues. I tend to play ren'py games because they usually run fine in my potato laptop but this one is rough.
Technicalities aside, I've been enjoying the game, and it's visuals are drop dead gorgeous. Although the floating popups seem to cause a lot of issues for me, I do appreciate the dev trying to do something cool with the presentation.
If not for the issues it has unfortunately been presenting, I'm sure everyone would be singing it's praises regarding how cool/fresh/different/unusual those things are. Then again, unfortunately, as things stand right now, the juice ain't worth the squeeze there.
I'd like to request that future releases of the game are "potato laptop compatible" please. The game is gorgeous for sure, but a lot of what's there is total overkill.
Edit:

Now that I've gotten through this effing "boss battle" (had to close and reopen the game once it was over (when the Aunt calls) to clear the memory), I'll try playing through the remainder of the game.
Gotta say, I'm very apprehensive about continuing. Are there more scenes? Ordinarily I'd obviously want as many scenes as possible but with this title in particular, after going through the hurdle that Sofia's scene was, I'm wishing for no more scenes (which is just wild for a porn game, heh)!
I'll reiterate what I asked before: please ensure that the game is "potato laptop" compatible. 30fps and 1080p is more than sufficient quality for top tier scenes, honestly. And that's not even taking into account possible memory leaks or other technical issues. By all means, have a high rez alternative as well for the ppl who have Ferrari setups, but please make the standard version more accessible across the board.
Anytime I see 4k written anywhere I shudder now. Trauma acquired, heh!

Why should the dev cater to one person who isn't contributing to development and whose lap top is about to turn to ash? It doesn't make sense. YOU need to address YOUR problem and stop expecting others to do it for you.
I thought this was a sarcastic joke post but guy here seems to be serious, which is laughable in a sad way. Never have I mentioned I had problems running ANY ren'py games (or unity, mind, of which I play several despite using a potato laptop for AVNs), just this one and mainly on that section (Sofia's scene) - just like a TON of other people ALSO have had issues.I've spent several thousands of dollars on my gaming rig. Feel free to ignore that guy. He was in another thread a while back writing a whole fucking manuscript for the dev about how to write his story, but couldn't get basic facts about the already existing story correct. Just a loser with poor reading comprehension trying to take it out on others.I thought this was a sarcastic joke post but guy here seems to be serious, which is laughable in a sad way. In addition, I've been nothing but respectful in everything I've said towards the dev and the game and nothing I've requested in unreasonable, since only this one game is presenting problems and issues that none of the others I play/have played are.
I also showed a solution that worked for me - something that was far from ideal but hey, it worked. If the dev does address the issue it'll make the game more accessible across the board and have the ppl playing it not get a negative perception from it.
Meanwhile, here you are gatekeeping with a pathetic argument of "lulz, spend more on ur rig, pleb! I did it so you should too!! All MY Ren'py Games (LOL, btw) run FINE on MY rig!!!", effectively trying to gatekeep the game and showing some sort of superiority attitude for no reason whatsoever. And for what? What do YOU stand to gain from this? What of the dev? Or anyone? Pathetic.
Maybe something would have been there in your pathetic rant if we were talking about a AAA or even AA game, but we're not. Instead, ren'py games are slideshows with bells and whistles mate. No matter how gorgeous they are, ultimately, that's what most of them boil down to.
If you have nothing worthwhile to add to a discussion, consider keeping things to yourself rather than ranting at strangers and making a fool of yourself.
