Has anyone told the author about subscribestar or anything? Someone should reach out to him and request him to make one, see how many people he can get back to backing him and see if that helps his motivation any.

I'm very certain that he was made aware recently after his Patreon was taken down. The bigger problem was that it killed his motivation to work on the game. It sucks but the game is dead not due to lack of monetization, but lack of desire.
And why doesn't he publish it on Steam in early access at a price of about $10-20 for example? surely this way it would get much more visibility and therefore support and money than what he received on patreon.

Beautiful demo. I would definitely back this project if there was a guarantee he'll develop it further...

Interesting and kind of weird, he's got a Fanbox that I subbed to at one point in time. I get that Patreon is a much bigger platform and them taking it down can zap a person's motivation, but he has a Fantia and Fanbox as well.
