You mean the red bikini bottom was the only style of red bikini you had available to you? Might change my mind then......
Oh! You think that it has stored images of bikini bottoms instead of having learned from bikini images what bikini bottoms are supposed to look like. Your gaps in knowledge keep getting deeper.

And you keep avoiding the answer by latching on to a perceived lack of knowledge.

You chose red. What shade of red? What tone? Red striped or solid? No pattern? High hip bikini or no? I guess the AI just knew exactly what you wanted.

Nah. It chose from a random set and gave you what it thought you asked for.

Does the DJ do the same?

To answer your question, no, AI will never just color something I want colored, it doesn't do that. It can't do that because it intrinsically changes an image completely using what it has learned and applying the generation to the image. To change the color of something manually from one color to another takes photoshop.

Most AI artists use it to touch up their images....does that make them artists? Is a photoshop artist an artist? That's another good question. And, if they are and an AI artist generates an image and then modifies it manually with photoshop to touch certain things up...are they an artist then?

Those ARE good questions!
Honestly I dont know. Or at least I'm not willing to say one way or the other.
Whenever I've had work in galleries I've always been asked to explain process, intent, and meaning for each piece. As long as these 'artists' can do the same I'm not one to deny them.
Let them say they're artists. Not a big deal honestly.

I'll still argue for shits and giggle though.

If tanstaafl can take an AI image and make it more aesthetically appealing through various touch ups through his software, then he has some artistic ability. He won't go down as Picasso or Monet, but give him some credit.

I like it! Though I'm not sure the way I've been playing with it so far fully counts as being an artist or whatever.

Though I will say that it'll be a while before we see any indie devs using it, lol.

I guess it's safe to assume that all the fancy commercial products have like 12 layers of anti-porn and anti-deviant filters.

Meanwhile the free AI stuff for home PCs, still drawing hands with 6 fingers and all that.

The only problem there is that image is not his work.

Closer to technical skill than artistic ability, technical skill meaning knowledge on the usage of a specific tool to do a specific task. Take away the AI, and (I assume) he wouldn't be able to produce much of anything artistically. (Correct me if I'm wrong on that last bit)

Years ago when I did art it could take me like a week or two to do a single half-decent-ish piece. AI makes it feel like "why bother". So the unrealized negative to all of AI is it will also discourage would-be artists from starting, and half-decent artists from trying to get better.

Which isn't?

Edit: Every single image I posted I made in comfy ui, even my avatar is made in comfy (though I did then use Dall-E to add the text, which changed what I made a bit.)

I could have used Flux to add the text myself, but my computer is a potato.

Absolutely correct, I can draw stick figures pretty well though. (Which I can now use in ControlNet to make cool stuff)
