Too little content? The game is about half-way through and it's already 2 to 3 times bigger than any other game around. They already explained they would add scenes in the other parts of the world but those aren't a priority and will be released through DLC's after the main storyline is finished.

Find me another game with 160 plus hentai scenes, all with their original drawings instead of repeating the same scene with different details over and over. Even big time studios rarely get close to that number and they have to be really big time, like the "triple A" of Japan.

You're judging the quality of a game in beta stages by how finished it is which is like judging a fish for its ability to climb trees. I would honestly take this game in its unfinished state than any other game around bar none.
While I agree with you, you didn't gave your piece of speculation regarding the reason for their patreon decline.

The game is already 3 years! in development. Let me explain it to you differently: Map too big.

You might be a bit biased about this topic. Do you happen to know if they sell posters & pillows already?
3 Years!? well at least it has quality... and money

If you're not going to inform yourself about the reason why the map is this size then I won't waste my time trying to explain it to you. It's been explained plenty of times.

Read their front wall of Patreon and it's explained there. There's been interviews where the developer explained it himself. There was the Reddit AMA not even a month ago. If you're not going to get informed it will just sound like bashing and I have better things to do than to retort a clear bash.

Yes, it has been in development for three years. You know what else? Their body of work also shows it. Being in development when you can see the development and you can play it while it's being developed is seen as a bad thing because? They explained their plan right from the start, they didn't deceive anyone, they have a schedule here that anyone can read:

You make it sound like it's a bad thing and they're deceiving people. I don't think you understand how development works. You develop by parts (they did the map first) and build from there, you don't build all over the place while you're showing the development to your supporters, this is isn't a triple A company. People already complain they're developing various routes at the same time. If they added free roam to that at the same time then people would just find another reason to complain.

Damned if you do, damned if you don't. People will complain anyway.

While I agree with you, you didn't gave your piece of speculation regarding the reason for their patreon decline.
It's simple. I don't see how I'm qualified to answer that. Anything that I say will be poor guessing and just that, speculation.

Maybe they advertise poorly? Do you notice how other Patreons are constantly advertising one another? Maybe they don't want to bother their Patrons with "advertising". Maybe it's because people rather support 3D games like Anna's Exciting Affection that keeps being postponed and delayed for shit reasons with two half-assed patches in half a year and still missing a recollection room after year and a half in development. People rather play cheap porn than actually play something with a compelling story which more likely than not, they skip or just go straight for the CG room.

If you're going to pick a 3D game at least go for something like Jessica O'neill which actually has a good story, yet Anna's Exciting Affection is making a killing while being a terrible game while the support for this game is slowly dying. Again, it's my opinion, you do what you want with your money.

Maybe it's because people are constantly slandering the game without any knowledge like the user I quoted above. Because it's more socially accepted to bash a game without any justification than actually defending it. If you talk shit about something you don't need to bring up facts, you just need to say something destructive and some idiots are bound to believe you, yet if you try to stand by something you're "biased" or a "white knight" or "shill". Honestly just read the reviews about this game and anyone that played this game properly will notice how poorly informed a lot of those are, they're just pure bashing and slandering.

Fleeting Iris is the type of game that people are too cheap to give a measly 10$ to help the team survive during development, because everyone "will buy it once its out" and pirate it meanwhile. One day if they keep plummeting their development will cease and it's a "told you so" type of situation. People will only miss the game and realize what a good thing we had in our hands when it's gone.

Don't get me wrong, I pirate a lot of games as well but if I try them out and if I like them I support them or buy it. I used to support Anna's Exciting Affection too but I make my opinions based in facts and not "but the map is too big and it's been in development for 3 years" without considering why.

They made the map big because all of their other games will use it. Supposedly it will speed up the process for the other games... Supposedly.

It "could" speed up the creation of the other games. I'm not saying it "will" though. The idea is likely (I'm not saying this is what they are doing, this is only my guess) that when they finish this game, and start the next one, they'll just reuse all the maps and continue from there.

I've worked with RPG Maker for a while now and I will say that it's simple to make a game from scratch if all the assets for sprites and maps are already scripted and in place. You could technically finish the game tomorrow, take a copy of the game data and delete all the events, pick a different place to restart, and write a whole new story from a different character's perspective. The world already exists, and if the second game takes place at relatively the same time frame, there wouldn't be a need to add new area to the city (ie. new stores that didn't exist in the first game.)

When making games, it's definitely the easiest way to do it, albeit a lazy way. The game itself is not a graphically amazing piece of work, so the next game being in the same boat wouldn't really piss off too many people.

For being such an ambitious project, there is too little content. And those regular updates are not helping making the world feel less empty.
Again, it has more base CGs per update than most dlsite games that release for 15$+ (some of them have like 8 base cgs lol), while being bimonthly.

Then why do you talk so much (about other stuff)?

Like I said, that map is too large for such a small team and few man hours. When you create too many branches at once you will come to a point where people might not be able to appreciate the work you've put into every detail. A custom menu may look nice but is not necessarily needed for having a wank. Being on schedule and delivering new CGs is more important.

On top of that it's not always fun to play a game from the start just because you might have missed something, especially when it involves a lot walking and skipping hundred lines of text. Linear games have always been more successful in the past for that very same reason. It's a simple equation of energy distribution.

Because I actually take the time to inform myself and I'm qualified to talk about those things instead of making assumptions out of thin air.

You throw away generalities like "too large for such a small team and few man hours". How do you know how many "man hours" they put into this? "such a small team" in comparison to what? To who? What project? What experience?

First three years was too much, now they're not putting enough man hours. Seriously, make up your mind.

If "people don't appreciate the work you've put into every little detail" then you should start dishing out shitty content with no detail? Just trying to make a logic assumption out of what you said, it's an honest question. So why not just release the CG's in Pornhub? Your mentality is probably one of the reasons why this game isn't doing great in terms of support. Not all of us are firing the game "just to have a wank".

I don't see how delivering new CG's which is a whole different department has anything to do with making maps or menus or what have you.

If you missed something, there's 100 (I think?) save slots which are easily identifiable by description and picture which you can reload and start exactly from where you think you missed something. Something that I appreciate is that often when I replay I see a new scene I missed for whatever reason or a dialogue or some detail.

Linear games have NOT always been more successful in the past for any reason since you're saying that without any facts backing it up. There's not a stat anywhere that corroborates what you just said. Sure, I'll give you that a basic game is easier to sell to the basic gamer or the average gamer but how hard is the actual game? A lot of people complain that the game is too linear, you say it's not linear enough. How hard is it to follow a walkthrough? Do you need it? Can you not have fun unless you follow it?

Everything you've said so far doesn't come off as "the game has this problem" more than it sounds like "this game isn't the way I want it to be". If you just want it for the wanks then go to the CG room and play the scenes. There, no walking or thousands of lines of dialogue.

Wasn't the update supposed to drop today?
AFAIK still is but Muku had three scenes to deliver and Starke still had to pannel and write them so it won't be out until quite later. I'd expect 5~10 hours from now.

About 10 days after the 1st announced release date on average
Absolutely not true unless you mean the ETAs.

You're right. I mean, i don't even know how Patreon works, if you have to go every month with the same tier, change or whatever, i always just bought games at their release, sometimes during alpha/beta on steam. And yet you're right, if there weren't people pleadging on Patreon, a lot of projects would have never been created. Sometimes we should remember that most of us are playing a game that other people support and pay for it.

That said, some people like linear games, other ones prefere routes games, you can't please everyone. I think Fleeting Iris is a multi-route game, but with pretty linear branches: just save before choose something you think it's important and you will miss almost nothing ( at the moment).

I still don't understand why this kind of discussions start every time they're delivering a patch. In the 2 months between patches this thread only has 4-5 users commenting.

I agree. I personally wish it was even more complex and decision based. Right now it's kinda in a sweet spot where it's hard to mess up but I like causality and player decisions to play even a bigger part in how the game plays out, but again I'm not developing the game and patrons probably expect results and hentai scenes a lot more than decision making so I kinda get where they're coming from.

I hope they do make a lot of money selling this game just to see how they're going to invest and change in their second one, if we ever get to see the end of this game before progress is halted. Not that they ever "threatened" to halt development but still.

EDIT: New post on Patreon. Patch today but it's kinda hard to explain, I'll just copy paste it here:

TLDR: double win :D

Maybe the next game will be more decision-based, they said they want to experiment different tipes of games :)

Are you going to play the first part this evening? :D

I'd like the fortitude to be able to hold off until Friday and enjoy it all in one go considering the changes they stated will likely break the save games but I don't have it in me
