Just to expand a bit on it: Wishlist weighs almost as much as purchases, in terms of currying favour with the algorithm. Knowing quite a few people who make video games, it has surprised me how stupidly important people wishlisting is for them. They legitimately focus their PR moves on getting people to wishlist the game, because it gives so much more bang for the buck than trying to encourage purchases directly.Steams method of quality control is trough recommendations. They let basically anyone post their games, but if it doesn't get purchased enough in the first few weeks, that game is basically nonexistent, because it doesn't get recommended to anyone.
