Which explains his highly “usable” artworks. But for AQE I gotta admit it is among one of the most well coded hentai games in terms of exceptional UI and controls and bug-free experience.

I can totally understand that. AQE has some of the best art I've ever seen in an adult game and even though Grim may not be very good at coding, he managed to pull off one of the best metroidvanias I got to play.

I was just complaining about how Ellen is pretty much a puppet in the gallery scenes with textures containing dismembered body parts to make animations more easily but the gameplay textures are all split into frames (which makes editing them a pain in the ass).

I first discovered the gme from my mate saying "Hey dude, want to see an xxx game with actually good visuals?" And i do agree that Alien Quest looks incredibly good. So many other xxx games either go from where the fence is the lowest or try to achieve too high quality and fail in producing anything.

On a technical level, it wouldn't make sense to split each frame of an animation into sprites because we're in 2026, not 2008. I'm totally overthinking it though, it does look smooth in-game.

I finished this game quite a while back and i just realized there are mods made for this game which i find interesting because mods change how a game plays from the original version. But i need to ask, what are the differences between hardmode, horny and Kmod? And can all of them/multiple of them be implemented at the same time ? Or will they interfere with each other? There's also cheat mod and controller mod which likely shouldn't mess with the other 3 mods correct?

Here's a rough explanation of all three available mods :

KMod adds a bunch of RPG-like features like giving the ability for Ellen and the monsters to speak, adding some debuffs if Ellen gets creampied by a monster, adding some sex mechanics like making it harder to escape the grasp of a monster or giving Ellen states of arousal (the more aroused she is, the harder it gets to escape from a monster), etc... I'd recommend checking Kwanlier's post on it, it's already very detailed.
HornyEve adds a bunch of sex-related features that may help you survive longer. Escaping a sex scene will damage the monster that grabbed Ellen, letting that monster cum can also heal her and damages the monster more than if Ellen escaped and you can even force scenes with monsters. Additionally, HornyEve adds a difficulty option that debuffs Ellen if she does receive healing from monsters (but this is optional).

KMod's post offers you multiple versions, one featuring only KMod, another featuring KMod with HornyEve included, etc... just look at the post to see which version of the mod you want to download.

BonedMod supposedly makes the game much harder but I never got to try it so you might get more information from the actual post.
P.S: BonedMod and KMod are incompatible. You'll need to pick one or the other.

I also have no clue about the controller mod but from the looks of it, it just makes it possible to play AQE with a controller (which isn't well handled natively).

There are also some retexture mods that have been released on the thread but nothing much besides a brown hair Ellen mod. I'm currently working on my own retexture mod but it's gonna be a few days before I can release it.

Quick question : does anybody know if it's possible to play/replace audio files and have them play at specific times in the game ? There's a silly mod idea I just got but I know so little about C to make it myself

From what I can tell you can either play with KMod (and HornyEve) or BonedMod but not both at the same time.
