It's more on the fact that Julia and Penny met more than anything with it also causing some chain reaction's that have yet to be addressed.
Well the impact of getting sexually satisfied by another woman where a man failed and meeting penny afterwards still is a much bigger catalyst imho. I mean okay a cheated pregnant girl is vulnerable , but at that moment she is more vulnerable and prone to find another male partner since she was until then pretty much normal without any lesbian tendencies. There is no sign shown before of her switching sides and from the story point of view she is an average american straight girl before the time travel change. A sexual encounter with a same sex during a vulnerable state of mind can shift ones perspective , all the more when meeting another partner (penny in this case) . I mean this is a porn game , porn stuff is bound to happen so why reduce it to something like a kiss? all the more when the scene wasnt even NTR( as many here hate that stuff allthough previous games have at least 1 ntr scene in it )

was a sex scene in an earlier version but there was blowback from fans, so the dev opted to change it to a kiss. Smart move on their part as it makes more sense(yes she's vulnerable, but hard to believe she would go all the way with a stranger the first time she's exploring her bisexuality), doesn't make Kim look as shitty, and makes it easier for ppl to appreciate her character development.
Plus you know, having the "ballbusting friend" who's being a hypocrite be the first one to have sex with the "it girl"(the one who the game markets most) first, is just asking to piss of your audience.
Well the rage was made by freeloaders here on f95 as stated by the dev and not the actual patreons. And ehm that part with Kim not being hated that much i would refrain from saying it considering her char dev is still bad. Also by doing this it made MC look bad when he raged at Kim for kissing his mom. I mean it was just a kiss and he didnt know yet the implication thats why that scene made much more of an impact when they had intercourse.So think its smarter to think that a kiss can turn a normal girl up to that point into a bisexual? a much more probabillity would be for her to find a guy like mc which actually met her and was nice to her than to jump on a girl (be it penny or any other) , all the more reason considering the timeline and the social norm back than. Ballbusting friend... dude thats not even ntr , MC at that point regarded her as his mother and didnt have any sexual desire , he just wanted to make her mother life better considering how misarable it got in the previous timelines. The Mc at least has more maturity (thats again a reason for the kiss scene outrage to be an exaggeration on his part).

Firstly, you're one of the freeloaders on f95 so you trying to take a moral high ground doesn't make any sense.
Secondly, it was the people on discord that convinced him to change it so even that you got wrong.

Also the MC had a right to outrage after kim ditched him, made him go on a goddamn scavernger/detective hunt for her, finds her kissing or fucking mom, then is only sad after cuz she lost her jacket and then tells MC to calm down -_-
Wont disagree that the majority of players are freeloaders , but dev makes money to support game from patreon not freeloaders. Besides it was devs initial vision which was received poorly here by "non-ntr" (thats not an ntr scene) freeloaders to begin with. 10 penths worth it had very little to do with if it was or wasn't NTR for the majority of players so stop trying to make it just about that.
It was mostly about two things since Kim is supossed to be the MC's sidekick, BFF.
Could she be forgiven for what she did as the Dev had hopped she could when he made the Original Sex scene.
Or if the majority of players would consider her to of stepped way to far over the line for redemption.
the first reason was about her having sex with MC's mom and if infact it could of possibly fuck up MC's life in a far worse way than it was before.
the second was her attitude on returing to the present.
Mainly because of the fact she was far more concerned about leaving her Jacket than the possibility of how she might of fucked up the MC's life.
And yet didn't think the MC had a right to be anoyed at her.
And despite the fact she did improved his life the Majority of players believed the sex with Mom meant she had infact overstepped the mark so much so most players wanted the MC to kick her out of his life completely and some even wanted her dead.
And so after seeing the reactions here and elsewhere and then talking on discord to people who's judgement the Dev trusted he decided to change it to a Kiss.
Some still hate Kim but now atleast most agree that a kiss although it may still be overstepping the mark by a little margin is still enpugh to get anoyed at especially after Kim had the nerve to warn the MC off her own mom.
And because it is still time travel we talking about here.
Even something as simple as kiss could still have the potential to fuck up the MC's future.
Luckly for Kim she did improve the MC's life but more by luck not judgment.
And so the majority are even if for some of them grudgingly willing to except she's just an anoying twat.
But can be forgiven if she stops fucking with the timeline and lets the MC fuck with it instead.
As for how a kiss changes the Moms sexual prefrence well your forgetting it may only have been a kiss,
But it was a kiss that happend years ago and both the Mom and the Teacher have been very close friends ever since that day.
Maybe kim kiss peaked Moms interest and the Teacher did the rest who knows.
