I don't actually remember much since it's been a while since I played it, but I do believe you have to do all the optional quests (the ones you hangout with the boys) to get the true ending. Sorry for not being much help.

"Pony Celes" game translated by the same OP had muuuuuch much better translation using GPT4.0 I think.

I found it good enough, but you could try to suggest the translator to remake it. Not sure if it'll work, tho.
