If it's good storywise ... we still have to find out. But it has one of the best lewd scenes (if not THE best) that I have ever seen in a game (Kate at night) and a bunch of sexy images. I'm waiting for mor from Elena however.Dude, there are games that are six to five years old with little content, this one is a little better, it doesn't have a lot of sex but it's better IMO
And there's also plenty of animations for almost nothing. Moving mist or eyes turning or little details like that that others would not bother to animate. That all takes time to make. I have no illusions that we'll have to be patient for another few years before getting anywhere.

1. Try to install a codec pack like K-Lite.
2. Make sure you have the latest working graphics driver installed.
3. All games support different render modes. With Shift+G (or by holding Shift when the game starts) you get into the menu which lets you select the mode. Try Angle2 or a software mode (if that's available).
I set all games to Angle2, because my graphics driver turns on optimizations when I switch to full screen and that's kinda annoying, since it makes the screen go blank for a second.

Codecs are useless with Ren'Py games, it have all necessary tools to play any animations and never use it
These pictures of Elena are great. i like the character in the game and hope there will be more of her in the next update. Her bitchy nature also makes her endearing somehow

You never know what codecs they use when they wrap something in mkv or avi. So it definitly doesn't hurt.
It may not need a codec for WebM, but can you say for certain that it has suport for all video codecs out there? WMV? DivX? Bink? Quicktime? How about h265/12Bit or TS?
Having some decoders in addition never hurts. But his problem is probably a overlay one.

Ren'Py does not support video in avi or mkv format and this is a container and not a video format...
So, I insist Ren'Py games DOES NOT NEED CODECS!
If you want to play video included in a Ren'Py games out of the game, just use vlc! You don't need to charge Windows with unnecessary files that can cause crash. Installing a codec is aonly needed when you have to create a video in a specific format DiVX/Xvid, H.264 or H.265. Avi, mkv and webm are only containers and can have multilple formats inside.

What makes you think that? I have already seen games using mkvs, Altered Destiny and Bankiung on Bella for example use them, encoded with FMP4, another game used VP90.
For every video format (including webp) A CODEC IS NEEDED. Ren'Py may or may not have support for some included, but definitly not for all.

some newer renpy versions might support webp, webm, etc natively but not all especially older versions.

Still WRONG! Ren'Py never use a CODECS but use ffmpeg to play video, that's it!

my thoughts also, and i bought this game on steam when it first came out. I abandoned it long ago,i think it will have a yellow tag in the future hope i am wrong not holding my breathe though.

Anyway, genius, ffmpeg uses installed codecs(of course it does, what else would it use?). ffmpeg even comes bundled with the K-Lite and can be set as render engine for Windows Media Player Classic HC.
You would never say a game does not need C++ because it runs on UE5, even if UE5 requires C++, right?
By stating that Ren'Py uses ffmpeg you just proved the usefulness of installing additional codecs. ffmpeg will use them.
