dude, I know you tried, but this looks TOO much like katalyst.
your arguments accepted, I admit defeat dude. girls feet's are more important than oxygen
I'm gald this got resolved but i do have a genuine question i have asked before but didn't got a proper answer.
At this point, what make this feels like katalist? I would like some examples of things same that feels straight up copied, so I can actually improve on those things and/or change it.
Here are my guess:
* Similar tileset: I just use the default tileset which comes with the rpgmaker so nothing i can do there, same goes for sound effects except when I need something specific I'll get it from freesounds.
* Player gets transported to a witch: yes this is similar, but how and why you get there are different, but still similar. But again witchs aren't like katalist exclusive thing either, many other things have witches and get transported to other world (eg: isekai animes).
The another reason I did it was because I had a few ideas for scenes that could only work for fantasy world and some that would only work for a normal world setting. So I decided something like this could fit my game as well. I still wouldn't call it copied though.
* Player fights demon/succubus: yes again similar but nothing exclusive to katalist, many other games have you fighting boss style enemies and progressive through them. And again the reasons for why you fight them are different than katalist.
The reason I added these boss style enemies to begin with was simply because it's easier to add scenes for, like I dont have to come up with a quest/story to lead player to getting to lick someone's ass or whatever.
* Combat: its rpg maker combat so it'll feel similar, yes the first boss's fight mechanics are same as katalist, I changed them for the 2nd boss whoever and its very different than katalist. It has like a cum meter that builds up with grabs and teases, and a struggle meter for when you get grabbed rather than rng based. So it's as different as I could make in the rpg maker.
Plus my games main focus isn't even in the fantasy setting, most of the scenes are focused in the normal world setting, where as katalist is more focused on boss fights for scene (at least last I remember).

But again I'm always open to constructive criticism, so if you actually want me to improve, please provide reasons that I can look into.

Yes I'll do a whole update just for the stalker, once I have all her story figured out, i don't wanna rush her quest.

Honestly it's just vibes, they somewhat feel very similar but I dont think anything is copied just close enough to artstyle just close enough in gameplay but nothing that I would call " copied " , just straight up vibes.

I'd say the story being too similiar is what makes this feel like Katalist. Student boy meets witch, becomes nearly immortal, fights dominant succubi that kill people through sex, also has fellow students who want to take advantage of him being a sub.
You'll only start noticing differences in story when you start looking into the details but most people don't look far past that when forming an opinion about a game.

Yeah so like I guessed mostly the beginning part of the game with the witch and bosses. But I honestly dont know I can make it more different without having to remake a lot of the stuff and removing a lot of stuff that took a lot of time (like the 2nd boss fight and the whole forest area with the woman living there).
As for your point about the students stuff i think that's generalizing it too much, and I dont really remember that in katalist anyway.
So if I removed the beginning & the fantasy world thing it wont be an issue anymore? Even though it was going to go in a much different story than katalist, with the whole hobo guy thing. Like you said people will form opinion before it gets to that stuff no matter how different I make the later story.
I honestly dont care about the witch or the 1st boss fight, if I removed them I wouldn't care to loss the work (art) i make for them. All the things I care about from the fantasy part of the story is begin able to teleport from/to normal world to/from the fantasy world (i have a lot of things that will only work in an fantasy setting but not enough to make a separate game), the player being immortal (a lot of thing I have planned will only work narratively if player is immoral) and the whole 2nd boss and the forest thing (that took a lot of work and I think is unique enough that it shouldn't be an issue).
So I'm open to suggestions if anyone have any ideas on how I can make it different, without having to change a lot and keeping those 3 things. (Like I thought it was pretty clever with the whole soul out of body thing to justify the immortal player but idk.)

Or I could just ignore it as it's not like copying anything directly from katalist and it's different enough, not to mention I dont see why it's such a bad thing that it's similar feeling to katalist to begin with.
But it just feels shitty whenever like someone just say "clone" or shit and disregard the whole work. Like the effort of making all the art and stuff, cause the characters are unique, the quests are unique, artstyle is different, scenes are different.... game mechanics are different (eg. The whole text message thing took a lot of damn time and effort to make, or the Evelyn's new scene where you can press q in the middle of the scene to change the opacity of her skirt seamlessly)

So yeah if anyone has any ideas on how I could change it so it's not a problem anymore with keeping those 3 things I mentioned above i would appreciate it.

Story spoilers of what I was going with, with the main story.

So if anyone has any ideas for changes I could do to make the beginning feel less like katalist and still keep the later part given above the samish let me know.

Edit: Just though of a way, after the hobo drugs you, instead to teleporting to the witch, you teleport to the guild itself and find the witch there and she takes you in her party and gives you the same maid & matilda quest and skip straight to the 2nd boss fight, and then she makes excuse to send you by yourself to fight the boss. [Idk care about removing the 1st fight all together] this way i wont have to make new cg or waste a lot of cg other than the 1st boss and some of the witch's cg.
So does this feels different enough from katalist?

I'd say there's no need to try so hard to differentiate it from Katalist, it's already different enough, and so what if there are similarites, that's how creative process works, there's nothing out there that's truly and completely original, everything is inspired by/takes elements from something else. Way I see it, you'd only be holding yourself back by focusing too hard on making it more different, if anything, it's better to embrace the similarity and make it a better Katalist than Katalist, which it already is btw
