A bit of both. From what I get, the shadow thing is a shape shifter, so sometimes you have an amalgamation with a convenient shape, others is more animal like, but in the end it's the same thing.

I found only two so far, normal and true endings.
What is fair about being kidnapped by a demon that forces you to either sacrifice yourself or your friend? That sucks...
Though I didn't know about good ending... maybe there's still some hope? Hmm...
