For reference do these collections have the VR versions of 44 & 46? The list doesn't specifically say so.
thus I'm not crazy about DLing 8GB of files for just two if they aren't there.

making a VR tier is such a dick move, it's already quite pricy to have the equipement, but then you have to pay even more to get the goods...

that's something I noticed a few years ago when I got my first VR experience, I was like "awesome a new world to explore", but it's like some disney park where you'd pay to get in, and then you notice you still have to pay for every and each attraction inside... like "oh so you can afford VR, well then, spend some more will ya ?" fuck that shit.

luckily piracy finally caught up...
I personally don't see the VR tier as a Dick move from a 3d animator "in concept"...
For me it really depends on the variable of what they are offering to the extra cost of the tier.
Even if the increase is low, it's not worth it if
- only 1080p
- less that 60fps
- not getting at minimum 1 VR render a month (realistically should be getting like 3)

Ani seems to be putting out 8k from whats listed and I'd guess 60fps.
But the Tier description gives the vibe of "I'll do them when I feel like it" and if thats your attitude about something as a creator, your really shouldn't have a specialized tier for it.
Even more so when you've only got a few VR video's that are behind a paywall as it is. So they only people that are gonna know you are doing VR now, are your own subs. But people that use VR aren't gonna find out about you while you are in a personal bubble.

Just grab one of those cheap google-cardboard like headsets and stick your phone in it. It's not like we're talking about some VR port of a game here, just a short video that any phone can play.

that's not what I was saying, I do own 3 vr headsets, real VR is worth your money, but you have to know it marks you as "rich" and if you're not a pirate, then you're not done paying.
that's what that vr tier is showing, it's the most pricy, and there's not even a lot of content. and I doubt a cheap phone will play 6k video flawlessly...

And I'm saying it doesn't really, since you can manage with a phone.
If this specific artist doesn't supply lower res versions of this VR content, that's another issue. You could try asking him for phone friendly versions (like a lot of VR artists have), or just do a simple conversion yourself.

But "VR tiers" for video content in general are not really the "closed garden for the rich" that you make them out to be. Just like how normal 8K video tiers aren't really excluding people with old PCs because at the end of the day pre-rendered video content can be consumed on a toaster if needed.

I don't think any phone is gonna be playing 6k VR video.
pretty sure 3k is the resolution limit for phone screens currently.
And generally Higher Res = larger screen/phone and thus very difficult to find a smartphone headset.
So yeah the realm of using a Smartphone for VR is def not an easy task like Moo here seems to think.

So as a Smartphone VR user (and in general) My take is that in general the tier has to be worth the cost.

Like I mentioned before quality and a consistent flow of content are key to get me to Sub.
There are some VR creators a Sub to and probably always will. There are some i'm on the fence about, and others i don't think I'd ever give my money to.
As someone who only uses VR as porn the fact that the VR-tier is a higher tier because includes everything in the previous tiers + the Vr renders Imo is a shit cost factor. because I have to pay for something i don't care about and won't use to get something I will. It's like having to buy a case of of bran flakes at a 15% mark-up because 2 boxes will be Raisin Bran, but you only want the Raisin Bran.
As someone who can only use 1080p, I have no way of knowing if AniAniboy has rendered/processed the VR versions in multiple resolutions. I have to pay first, then find out if i need to spend an hour or so converting the 8k vids down to 2k.
I also have no idea if they even did a good job with the VR or not since they don't have any free sample work of it, not even like a still frame render.

You can "Manage" and "get-by" with a smartphone for VR definitely. But as someone who is an advocate for how inexpensive it can be to get started with VR that way. I'm well aware of the limitations. And that in general the VR user community tend to be seen as maybe not "rich", but financially sound/grounded. Because while at the beginning there was i big wave with the Smartphone VR. That wave crashed pretty quick as far as development goes, and internally theres a lot of (i think non-intentional) elitism within the VR user community against smartphone VR.

what we have here is failure to communicate...

from the hundreds creators I know, there's not a single one that creates VR content for a tier with a price lower or equal than the one with the regular content, if it's not making a difference between people who owns VR and the others, I can't do much since you clearly don't want to understand what I'm saying. from my first post to now, I keep saying you have to pay more than regular users, and that's a fact you can't deny. even if it's for a cardboard vr headset to use with a phone, or the price you'll pay to get content...
and of course, I know you're not rich as soon as you own a vr headset, you can be an enthousiat that likes VR while eating pasta every day, but things are how they are. and it's frustrating that people consider VR owners can pay more than others... since it limits the user base and consequently the content produced...

I suspect that Moo is grouping creators who focus on VR as thier main thing, along with creator's that simply *also* offer VR renders. The statements Moo gives me the impression they likely don't have VR.
And it's definitely not the same thing.
Imo the there are very few VR creators who have fair sub prices, based on various quality factors.

Nope, I was talking specifically about creators like the one here, that have a pricier tier for VR.

For me a VR tier isn't any different than pricier tiers for extra angles/outfits or PSDs. If some content has more value / takes more work, creators put it in a higher tier. And that tier costs more because of that content, not because it has that + the rest of the stuff you don't care about. That's how patreon works. That's how the market works.
If people want only the VR content (or only the extra angle / a specific outfit / etc) and expect that to be available in a small separate cheap tier, well... good luck with that buddy.

And indeed I don't have VR, as suggested I just use a cheap solution with my phone for such content and it's been working fine so far. That's exactly why I don't see VR tiers as something that preys specifically on VR owners or whatever.
Sure VR tiers can sometimes suck if they are priced too high and provide too little content, but that can be said for any tier...

I mean... there aren't really that many I can even think of honestly  I think Laosddude might have had a higher tier for thier VR stuff... but i don't recall. And it looks like their patreon got the boot.
Do you have examples of who you are referring to?

No.. thats not really how Patreon or the Market "works" Creators are free to have tiers of equal price to represent different rewards of similar value, but subjectively different in terms of content. It's simply not "common" but i've seen some creators offer such things.
In generally I only sub for VR on Patreon to creators who's primary focus is VR.
If they are creators like AniAniBoy who are new to rendering their content for, I'm most certainly not paying them shit without at least seeing if the work done is a decent set-up or not. I don't expect shit from anybody really.
But frankly if you expect that a creator is gonna be able to bring in the VR consumer market (because thats generally how market flow works, consumer rate and all that..) with paywalled only content that isn't really seen anywhere outside of their twitter or patreon... good luck to them.
They don't offer the content at a reasonable price... I sure as fuck know i'm not buying it. I and i can tell i'm not alone in that from what I see on various sites similar to this.

I'm confused do you or don't you have VR? You say you don't have VR, but then say you used a cheap solution with your phone for said content... So which is it?
If you use a smartphone headset for VR then it's still VR and you're contradicting yourself.

I don't personally think there is intent to prey on VR owners ether really that much with the tiers.
I'm just very about price/quality/amount of content ratio. Imo AniBoy's Tier is Overpriced for what they are offering as far asVR goes when compared to other VR creators.
