VLC player took over from Media Player Classic for me; one drawback is that it cant play "next file in folder", you have to make a playlist for that. Furhtermore if there is a file you can't play for some reason; there is a codec pack called CCCP - no not the old soviet republic edit: it has slow motion all the way down to x0.02
