Why does MCs phone not work in sandbox after meeting Rebecca at gym

Because it's bugged for some people. A windows 11 update is incompatible with the phone function in the game. If you downloaded that update, the phone doesn't work properly. The Devs are planning a workaround that will separate the actual game quests from the phone, so the sandbox version will work again for those people. It should also hopefully eliminate the old save issue, that has affected virtually everyone for months now.

Unfortunately, if you have this bug, there is presently no solution to it. And there won't be one before the next update. The only alternative is to play the VN version of the game, which doesn't have the phone, and therefore this bug doesn't affect it. But of course you would have to start Chapter 2 again.
