I mean they do, that is just a user posting the images again, that is not the developer.
That preview is in this post here, and the dev only posted that image and preview once, the rest of the previews on his Patreon are new. At the same time, they are not really all previews since a lot of them don't end up in the game.
Some of those images are Patreon perks some offer, like wallpapers, special renders, and so on. Some devs think of new ways to make money if they ain't pushing out updates
That second aspect is bundled into the payment tiers , enticing fans to pay more for X... wouldn't say it's a new way to make money since it's baked in their primary strategy. At this point I'm thinking the game being the actual thing which gives devs MMR(monthly recurring revenue) becomes a side project. The main project is speaking of how good the game will be , progress updates , special renders, private discords etc. And reason I say project and not focus is because they make it a work of art two releases a year diabolical while doing over $5000 usd a month. That can hire people in this same forum to aid with scripts , graphic , testing , programing , animation etc and leave profit.
Games with polished quality such as this and animations are extremely rare, which from a marketing stand point provides the dev with massive levage.Where else are you gonna go to get something better... aint much out there so just pay and wait.
The only answer is more game devs...high quality game devs.Which allows for competiton on market share forcing old dogs to go die in a kennel or learn new tricks.
