There were a bunch of spelling errors that really seemed like they were caused by someone just looking at a translation and typing it in - for example, really early on, like first 5 screens, there's 'summber'.

Guessing when it unzipped the permissions on the files were wonky and/or more secure than others in the past. Make sure to do a: chown -R <your username>:<your user group> <gamedirectory>/

Probably missing the exec bits on the .sh file and the actual executable.
run 'chmod +x *.sh lib/*linux*/*' to make the relevant files executable and try again.

Well, I honestly don't even know, I can't wrap my head around it. Personally, I would never call sister aunt or aunt sister. These are different levels of subordination. An aunt is like a mother and a sister is my equal.
However, I solved this problem for myself using 0x52 - the "text substitution" tool.

yes. in russian tradition all older (but not too older for name him as granny) woman usually named as auntie <name> and all older man named uncle <name>.
but yet greatly older sister still not aunty (BECAUSE SHE IS SIS!!!) !!! =))). aunty if for woman who older than me, woman who may be my mom in different circumstances haha.
i have two older cousins whom i not name uncle - its too crazy for me haha - only by the name or bro regardless of their ageing =)
