He does the calendar still, so he is still posting...but yeah otherwise radio silence. He even stopped posting excuses at the end of every month, so he doesn't pretend to continue the work.

Well he's currently stuck in an old WWII bunker in the depths of an unknown back of nowhere Eastern Europe village....and all the doors are sealed shut due to a malfunction in the nuclear contaminant sensors.Even though my hopes aren’t high, I really wish NOTvil would return to making games someday. His art and storytelling is very unique.
He'll be on vacation in Dubai by next year.Well he's currently stuck in an old WWII bunker in the depths of an unknown back of nowhere Eastern Europe village....and all the doors are sealed shut due to a malfunction in the nuclear contaminant sensors.
Really unfortunate...after managing to get off Everest and jumping overboard from the container tanker he was press-ganged into working on....the guy just can't catch a break it would seem....
That is a definite possibility. That happens all the time to various creators. There are many VNs / games (and plays, films, books, operas, etc.) that are great or even just decent throughout, but in the final few releases they fall completely apart. Sadly, I can think of at least a dozen off the top of my head that are like that. I always recommend strongly to writers to plan out the endings of their stories well in advance. It doesn't only help to make sure the conclusion is satisfying... with the caveat that some can't actually think of a good ending even ahead of time. It also helps with pacing, story beats, dialogue, plot points, revelations (e.g., clues in a mystery), etc. Knowing where you'll end up lets you control these other elements much more easily. It's a shame that the dev couldn't get it over the finish line when he was so close to completing the game.
If you think about where the game was left, we were in the end game and looking at some kind of big reveal like the previous game to bring things together.
My opinion is that he didn't actually figure that out in advance, and he's stuck because he's realized there's no way to make any sense of it in the end.
I think NOTvil has already expressed everything he wanted in his 3-part beta. I saw on his site that he is now trying to combine the whole story into one game, while simplifying the controls and the plot. The last time I saw it, about a month ago, his work on this was stuck somewhere around halfway. And I don’t think such a modification did the game any good. As for the plot itself: it looks like it is already finished, the main goals in it have been achieved, and it would be difficult to add any new plot twists in such a situation that would fully continue it.That is a definite possibility. As for cohesiveness and game controls, I do think there could be some improvement, but I never felt they were awful. It just takes some getting used to so the player can understand what the game wants from them. On the other matter, at this point there probably shouldn't be any more plot twists, at least not generally. There could still be minor things, but the game should be more or less in its denouement now, meaning loose ends getting tied up (like the wife getting back into the apartment if that's going to happen, etc.) and then the ending scene(s) get done. Let's hope he can figure out an ending or that what's he's got is a good conclusion.I think NOTvil has already expressed everything he wanted in his 3-part beta. Still sailing on some paradise islandAny updates on his patreon or is he still on vacation
Honestly, there's a definite possibility that his current IRL job pays more. If that's true, I could see him prioritizing that over this game. I definitely want this game to continue (i.e., finish), but it's understandable to me why he might have chosen some other job over this. To be clear: I don't know that he has done so, and I also don't know anything about what he's posted on Patreon or elsewhere (except what folks here say). IJS that I could imagine scenarios where working on this might not make sense for him.Guy could earn some nice money, but instead he turned his patreon to shop with Calendars every month. If he would use that time he takes to make 1 callendar each month, we would have updated a year ago.
Yeah he's said for years now back when he was a student that AOG is a hobby, and its assumed he's working a FT job now since the now-infamous boat job.Honestly, there's a definite possibility that his current IRL job pays more. If that's true, I could see him prioritizing that over this game.
