Bro, the screenshot said that he was last seen on UMLF October last year. He had six years up to that point to say that. Don't put words in his mouth. Trying to speak on behalf of someone else, which you clearly don't have an established relationship, is already in itself disrespectful. Trying to do it to get what you want makes you a parasite.

P.S. The only thing you've managed to convey is your selfishness and unwillingness to reflect. You're going to pretend you know what the dev wants to get what you want. And your rationale that it should be free isn't because you care about the developer. It's so you don't have to pay for work someone else has to put in. The fact that you brought it up again as your idea of being "respectful" only shows that it's you who doesn't understand respect. I hope people around you "respect" you as much as you "respect" this dev. I'm sure you'll be happy to hear people are putting words in your mouth to get what they want, and not what you want.

By that logic, I think your dead grandmother would have liked me to have all her valuables. If she didn't want me having it, she would have said so. She has a will? Well she wrote that years ago! That's the thing though. The very first thing you'd need to do is obtain the source code if it's not already there, then interpret the source code, then code within the parameters set by the source code.
The problem is that a lot of these projects are put together with what people call spaghetti code, which makes it much more difficult to try to interpret and add to. That's why a lot of games end up getting remade. The more practical solution is to then make the game from scratch, but at that point you might as well make your own game.

I also don't think it's a good argument to blatantly disregard the intent of the creator. Why create if people don't care about you want and will just take what's yours and make it theirs? Why come back if people don't respect you?

Basically, even if you don't care about morals, it's not at all an easy endeavor, and it's not a smart endeavor if you actually want the dev to come back.

You're not understanding what I'm saying.

Most games that have mods are designed to have mods or have an easy to use template built in. If it has neither, and the dev doesn't have clean codes, modding is monumentally harder. Sometimes it's so hard, you would be better off making a brand new game. If this game was easy to mod, you'd think we'd already have mods.
