What you are referring to is netori and is a variant of the genre when the protagonist steals someone else's romantic interest girlfriend or wife in this forum all the variants and terms are together in the word netorare

I'm still trying to familiarize myself with all these terms. I come from a simpler time, when all the games were male protag, with either a dating or a harem theme. Thanks for pointing that out for me.
I think I've confirmed that I should just delete this. Continuing to play it would likely send me into a homicidal rampage.

I would advise to pay real attention when art/porn games are tagged as ntr (either netorare or netori) because (and especially on pixiv), the ntr tag is kinda used to easily get clicks online even if the entire context of the game/art isn't cuckloding.
If you were looking for something hardcore, then you can do yourself a solid by playing the Sengoku Rance games
There is also netorase which is about the guy being into his girl being stolen and essentially whoring her out
netorase can also refer to polygamy and swinging which are lighter variants. But yes, I dislike that this forum lacks a proper tag system for NTR because there's just so many variants and people who like one form will likely hate the others.

Doubtful. If that was the case, NTR enjoyers would think: "OH, BEING CUCKED IS SO GOOD!", but they most likely think: "DAMN, HE IS RAMMING HER GOOD! WHAT A STUD! AND WHAT A HORNY BITCH SHE IS! Really, for most people is basically like reading a story that is foreign to them, is like reading a dramatic book where not everything is happiness, therefore you do not project yourself into them nor do you empathize.

Netorare is more than a simple act of infidelity, but the fetishization of jealousy and other negative feelings commonly associated with it. is usually portrayed from the perspective of someone losing his significant other, in order to delve deep into the jealousy aspect of the fetish, however, for story purposes might switch between multiple POVs and also portray the events from the perspective of the stolen.
As a recommendation, if you play this type of game and you do not have this fetish, basically do not project yourself into the game, the protagonist is not you, you are just reading a story that has nothing to do with you.

I heavily doubt there's people who genuinely play Ntr games just to get that feeling of being cucked.
Those who do want to self-insert would rather play a netori instead like Ntr-legend where they are the one doing the cucking.
Given from what I've seen on Dlsite netorare (or neotarase even) eroges, it's a staple thing. You will see netorare storylines/mechanics even being used on small games from not-so popular authors with a average drawing skills.
And for those that do consume netorare eroge, just like danadana said:
A lot of people don't really care about the Mc getting cucked nor do they project (I mean, why would you?).
So in the end, you fap to it and then go "Wow that was hot! I'd hate to be that guy lol!"

Personally I like watching people suffer, and Honestly id rather they were not real people having to suffer.

Yeah, I never put myself in the position of the MC. I like watching everyone suffer as it all falls apart.
Especially not in this game he's made deliberately dense that he simply can't tell his wife is sucking and fucking on camera, its not meant to be deep and thought provoking

It is impossible to not project yourself into the game, because YOU are moving the story. YOU are the trigger of everything what happens in the game. The main character is YOUR avatar, objectification of YOUR will. And being thrown into the story, where YOUR actions are making a wife of YOUR avatar to cheat is... a dubious fun, and sounds more like a punishment. That's not the same as reading a book, you see?
That's why I find it difficult to understand NTR enjoyers. Maybe they are really masochists, who like to be punished...?

It's difficult for me to do that. I mentioned earlier, that I'm used to male protag games, with a dating or harem theme. So I've kinda been conditioned to put myself in the place of the protag.
This does help it make sense for me, though. I can see how people would enjoy it, if they're able to look at it from an outside perspective. I'm just not capable of that.
