Sep 30, 2025

Hey everyone,
quick check-in. Fairly simple week. I did hit a snag with my GPUs, nothing crazy. I was getting a batch in to render and notice the render times were unusual the next morning. 3 hours wasn't normal, but the graphs didn't seem unusual temps wise. But after another looksie, I noticed the second gpu wasn't firing up. Anyway, my fumbling of setting up my GPUs for ComfyUI (which is a pretty standard install, I was just trying to set it up in WSL which did more harm than good.) Whatever I did, it was making DAZ only render on one of the GPU's. I didn't feel like troubleshooting, so I just re-imaged the PC and things were back online after some minor adjustments.
So, what was I doing now to this poor server and why am I using ComfyUI? When it comes to posters, advertisements, just random images for background stuff that I want or need to swap out while avoiding copyright claims, I just use AI generated images for stuff like that.
Veronica's apartment for example. I didn't want random art, so instead of scouring stock images for something like this to slap in as a photo.
I generated and placed a photo prop I felt was better than a blank wall or a framed photo of a flower for this scene back in CH5.
And if it wasn't already obvious, the art pieces in the gallery of CH6 were generated. That'd be some weird irony if they weren't, lol. But anyways, that's why I was working on getting something setup locally. It is a tool I've started to use since CH5 to replace posters or adverts. Even the Big Juicy Weenie hot dog on the carton (CH6) was generated. It's a very good tool to have and makes coming up with shirts designs, logos, posters, etc. easier without having to search the internet or wonder about what license to use. So if you're a developer reading this. It's a controversial subject for sure, but so long as you treat it like a tool and not just flat out abusing it to do work for you. It's fine, in my opinion.

Anyway, we gucci now. GPUs were fixed already, render times are back to normal and Comfy is up and running. Got some props to texture tomorrow.

Have yourselves a great week everyone! Hopefully weather is finally cooling down for you too! Stay safe out there.

Interesting, that makes the conversation about AI in that chapter even deeper and more meta than before.

Just wondering, will the dev redo the earlier chapters to make the characters match the newer upgraded ones?

Dev could finish the game, then sometime later add the retroactive polish update after everyone has had time to play the finale.
As a person that makes stuff, I understand all too well the temptation to redo the earlier work and make it look better. It is one of the pitfalls of being an artist or writer.

Part of this urge comes from a fear of completion. It's like your kid going off to college and not needing you anymore, what then? At some point you have to finish the piece. Finish it, start something else, and come back to the earlier work later. Usually the separation anxiety ends after the new project is in full swing.

Yeah it's not gonna happen for sometime as he doesn't want it
to interfere with the current development. The last chapter took
much longer due to family stuff. He discussed this awhile back and most
agreed it wasn't necessary on Patreon.

He may fix it after the game is finished but that's 10 CHAPTERS away lol!
Besides after chapter 1{and he informed players in game what the problem was}
things got much better in chapter 2 and so on. I think the renders now are
some of the best out there! Of course I'm a tad bias since this game is in my top 5!:)

Yeah I remember that he had a rough year . To having his eyes sorted out then the delay that affected every dev due to the music copyrights and then the family issues. Digi.b is one of the best dev's in my opinion he always keeps us informed even when he is on vacation and still works on the game then

Edit: LINKS REMOVED WHILE I UPDATE

I've made a multi-mod for this game

Features:
  • Walkthrough - added green color for best dialogue options
  • Added unlock all options for the archives (scenes and images)
  • During free roam objects that can be interacted with are highlighted
  • Scene changes (Can get both Katy and Zoe scenes, can call both Katy and Zelda)

Download: MEGA PIXELDRAIN
Any estimate?

Happy Monday evening!
Couple things I got going on this week, going to bundle them together, knocking two birds with a stone. Came home the other day and noticed the water in the reservoir that cools my GPUs is gettin murky, which is odd since I had recently changed the water out. I've also got someone coming out to install network drops at my house. I've done this before and it's not a hard thing to do, but it is time consuming. So I'd rather just hire someone to do it while I work on dev stuff. But since I saw this with that water, figure I'll just work on flushing the system again and checking the GPUs to make sure there's no build up happening. Working on that while the guy wires the network cables will minimize downtime. The flush itself shouldn't take more than an hour though, maybe two if I want to be thorough this time. Then it's back to work. Pardon the messy garage, lol. Especially the gaping hole in the wall. Earlier this year, I had to install a 240 outlet to my breaker to power my UPS. Been too busy to patch the wall after, haha.

Here's a little preview to share. At this rate, Artemis should be the spokesperson for Freezies. I need to find time to create a condensation shader so that cup actually looks cold, haha.
Take care of yourselves out there and hopefully the weather has been cooling down for you too!

I started a new playthrough yesterday on Steam and now today all the SD cards I found are gone. Any idea why that happened? The only thing I did was edit a save early on to both tip June and pay for pizza with Kindra.

"Gone" as in you can't see the images they triggered or "gone" as in when you replay the scene the SD isn't there?

For the first, you would have had to have altered (or deleted) your persistent somehow; for the latter, once you find them, they disappear - if you find them on one play through, I don't think you see them on any parallel play throughs.

Can't see the image they display. I've been rehunting them and just got back to making progress on the story instead of jumping around my save files finding them all again. The SD cards reappeared where they originally were.

Steam was down globally yesterday so it might have to do with that - i read elsewhere that Progress in other Games was affected also.

Sounds like something happened with the persistent, then.

Some games come with unexpected and unique issues. In Artemis for instance, I'm about halfway through Ch3 and every moment of Kindra on screen I feel like a horribly evil person for not being in love with her. It just feels wrong. I sincerely hope y'all guys are picking up my slack and giving her all the love.

EDIT: Speaking of evil, who the fuck goes out of their way to remove the auto-text speed slider? What a psychopath.

I downloaded the complete zip file (18.4GB) from gofile but after extracting it I only have the 'game' folder, which is only 16GB. I can't launch the game because the .exe is missing ('rebpy' and 'lib' folders also missing). Any ideas on why this happened and how to fix it?

I first tried to extract it with windows file explorer (worked everytime so far) but I got an error message. Extracting with BreeZip worked but caused the aforementioned issue. Any help would be greatly appreciated
