That’s a good point about the tech still being early-stage — Artemis clearly pushes the limits of what Enzo and Nora had developed. But I keep circling back to the emotional weight of that “pleasant memory” scene. Kandice tearing up felt deeply personal, almost like she was revisiting a moment with someone she lost. I got the impression it might've been her daughter, Gemma — and that Artemis could be a continuation of that grief.Think the girls are programmed "bots" with a set personality/protocol, but this is just a tin foil guess, also thought they came off a bit 'robotic.' As far as the fencing program would wager it was about the project that is Artemis, and a functional AI but not fully clued in on what Artemis is yet. The support for that I would use is that when the MC is brought up to have worked on Koko with Kindra. That seemed to be a moment that piqued her curiosity and gave her a bit of pause. Koko's showing at the Expo will probably change everything, along with the possibility of Artemis being "stumbled upon" haha.
As far as the girls tho and reasoning I doubt her girls are AI android, is because we see all the complexities with Artemis and her overheating, processing, yadayada. Seems like the tech wasn't fully there yet with Enzo and Nora, they were only at the preliminary phase so to speak.
So my theory is: Kandice, possibly alongside Kindra’s parents, was trying to build an AI/android modeled after her daughter — not just physically, but emotionally, through memory preservation or neural mapping. That might be what the “old project” referred to. Artemis could be that result — a kind of hybrid attempt at digital resurrection.
Again, this is just speculation, but the way Artemis reacts and grows emotionally might be more than just advanced programming.
By the way, does anyone know how many chapters this VN is expected to have?
