how did you end up resolving this? playing for the first time also on mac with the mod, got the exact same issue

Sadly never actually found a solution. I found the issue only came up when I closed out of the game. So while playing I'd just make quick saves relatively often. And then whenever I closed out of the game the next time I'd open it up almost always one of those multiple quick saves would work. For some reason they'd still be a few scenes back from the actual save, but I'd just go into preferences and turn on the ability to skip unseen text until I'd get to the point I originally saved at.

I know, a pretty big pain. But I never found an actual solution. I've had this issue with some other mods and have had to just deal with it the same way. Big bummer
