Honestly after all these years, its making me wonder how hard it would be to make a game like this in Renpy, no clue but heck I can bust out some drawings and write a decent script.
Renpy's version of python is super beginner friendly. When I was making the port of the original Babysitting Cream I had close to no previous expirience with it, and it still somehow magically worked when I first launched it. Also, as long as you are not doing funky stuff with python code it will tell you extremely directly if you messed up something, what you messed up, and where.
Also, to anyone who does want to make a game similar to this one: idk about this abandoned mod version, but the og port I made is pretty much open source and y'all have my full blessings to just use it is a starting point (or straight up just replace dialogue and art and be done with it). It already has locations, traversal, time of day, value trackers (a bit scuffed cause it was ported over directly from flash), inventory and screen management.
Making games is fun as fuck, and if you ever think of dabbling in it, you should definitely try
