It's very hard to do without Patreon if you're in this for the money.
What does that mean? That those who publish on patreon earn money from it, and those who publish on subsribestar, itch, steam and other platforms do it for charity? That's totally absurd. That would only make sense if Rainces, like last time, created an account and waited for it to fill up with subscribers without publishing anything. Except that last time it didn't work out :)

Patreon is where the money is at. It's the rare dev that seems to be able to make much money off of Subscribestar. A lot of people that would support a game like this won't do it if they have to give their credit card directly to the website versus going through someone like Paypal. A lot of devs have tried to pivot to Subscribestar after being banned on Patreon, but they don't seem to last long. If you're not terribly concerned about making money, Subscribestar is a decent platform. But there's a reason most of the "incest" games here have the kink added by a patch made by some mysterious third party. A good portion of the time, it's the actual dev themselves, and they'll even have the uncensored version on their Subscribestar for those that want it what Patreon has a more sanitized version. But they need the exposure and money that Patreon brings in. Look at Rainces themselves, and how much they're counting on Patreon to work. If they could make the same or even close to the same money on Subscribestar without the censorship or hassle, they wouldn't care about Patreon.

but the way i read it is that he wants to come back to BBS on the condition that he regains some of the former support. "gimme money then i would come back to BBS, not immediately because bullshit legit project is necessary, but you know, if you support me here you'll be supporting BBS in the long term". which is... fair?
I mean... as I said, of all the people who would profit from alternative stories about BBS, Rainces would be the most fair to do so. But looking at the Dr Bones case I ask... is it really necessary to pretend that you are working on another project, since the Dr Bones himself says on Patreon that he is working on a banned game, and his account is still active?

I think Rainces could just write in his bio that he is an adult game artist and post some renders that he made that do not violate the platform's guidelines. And they could be BBS renders (since the renders he is going to post of this story on the beach are of BBS characters).

Now, I would have a MUCH BETTER idea for Rainces: he could publish a BBS update here, which would also be distributed on adult game sites like Lewdninja... and in this new update he would have HIS NEW PATREON ADDRESS.

He’d get a flood of new supporters on Patreon! Because everyone would think it’s the BBS Patreon. I’m surprised he hasn’t thought of that yet.

After that, he could just focus on these side stories/games and keep fooling fans forever about new BBS updates. hahah

Rainces is likely to lose this new Patreon page because they're going about it all wrong.
That's an interesting point... how is he going to make these new minigames/side stories in a way that pleases BBS fans without putting the very things that make BBS a banned game there? hahahah In other words, if he makes Bob touch Lucy while she's passed out or sleeping, the content will already be illegal there.

He would probably have to save the spiciest and most against-the-guidelines stuff for a future update that will never come.

Anyway... I think the best thing he could do is what I suggested: publish a BBS update NOW with the active Patreon address (since the game only has the old one that was removed), gain new followers and not publish any games there, just renders. And he would deliver the updates here or on Discord or on websites for the entire public, since one way or another that's what ends up happening anyway.

IIf someone was focused on creating and not making money, they wouldn't have a problem changing platforms. Rainces doesn't need publicity, he already has a fan base. Zip changed his platform to subscribestar and has been there for a long time. That means it's possible. I myself sponsor creators who regularly publish similar content on patreon or subscribestar.

I've heard from a few people that patreon offers better terms of cooperation, but I'm curious how it looks exactly. Is there a creator here who has published on various platforms and can write by what percentage the margin on patreon is higher than other platforms?

ZTF had to change due to his content being perceived as breaking TOS and why Rainces had to lighten the mood to stay on pateron.

I'm just wondering why Rainces is so stubbornly pushing for this patreon? From what he writes, he's wondering if what he posts regarding new stories won't be banned again. What kind of artist lets the source of the publication dictate what he can and can't post? It's really strange considering the number of platforms he can publish on.. even Steam is much less strict.
I'm guessing it's because his old account was successful and he wants to emulate that success with his new account. This time round he is hoping to stay within patreon's ban hammer.

IDK, it's kind of maddness to appease patreon as their terms are ever revolving. But Rainces wants to stay on that platform

Your main problem is taking Rainces at his word. To be fair, there was at least one time in the last few years when he has said "one month", and it was actually one month. Usually, he says "one month" or "it is in beta testing", and then he disappears for several months or longer. I've always had the suspicion he says stuff like this just to make people sign up for his patreon in anticipation of a new update about to drop. I've followed this game for way longer than I'd like to think, so I just ignore his promises and wait until I actually see the update posted before I believe. Rainces makes all kinds of promises that either don't come true, or where the timeline is way, way off. Maybe things are different, given they said they lost their job and need the money. But at the same time I'm not automatically believing anything they say.

And as others have said, Rainces is likely to lose this new Patreon page because they're going about it all wrong. As soon as that happens, there's an excellent chance that Rainces goes silent again for an extended period of time. It's possible they still drop the next update, but I think that unless they can find a way to make decent money out of it, they won't. Making money out of the current BBS requires more complexity and guile than they've shown themselves capable of. It's very hard to do without Patreon if you're in this for the money. But BBS as it stands right now won't fly there, and Rainces just doesn't seem to get that showing any connection between their new page and their old game is not a good idea.
I'm not naïve enough to believe Rainces is actually going to finish the update this month, don't get me wrong. It would be nice if he did but I'm using his estimate as a time frame on when the update would come out.

Regarding Patreon, I think as long as he don't post BBS game there he can talk about it all he wants, as long as "Drifted into Sin" don't have banned content Patreon should leave him alone.

We can only wait and see if Patreon is still there after he releases the demo game.

Why does it look bleak?

From the discord post that you shared, rainces said that the side story "Drifted into Sin" will be released soon on his patreon to keep the page alive and that he is aiming to finish the update to BBS with in this month (July) so we could see an update at the end of the month.

If I am reading it right that sounds like good news to me!

Plus we now know the Aunt's name (Sara) and that she have 2 daughters (Ava and Nicole). Things are moving nicely (If he don't ghost us again for years).
those are great news compared to the status of the game just one week ago (clinically dead). but he made very clear that he needs a healthy patreon to continue with the project, and his current one is pissing all over patreon ToS with just one post. hence my comment.

having said that... i don't want to be cynical but i doubt very much that we are going to see the BBS update this month. like we've been here before. i love the game but rainces is not good with release date estimates.

I mean... as I said, of all the people who would profit from alternative stories about BBS, Rainces would be the most fair to do so. But looking at the Dr Bones case I ask... is it really necessary to pretend that you are working on another project, since the Dr Bones himself says on Patreon that he is working on a banned game, and his account is still active?
that drbones post is from 2019, patreon is much more strict now. anyway it doesn' matter, as you pointed out using a baby bobby is a much worse infraction. and pretty unnecessary.

Baby Bobby! ahahahah I liked it!

note: Dr Bones' last post was from January 2024, where he said he would pause the current Patreon game and focus on the banned game "BT:TM". He just didn't write the full name of the game, preferring the abbreviation as a precaution. He never posted anything else after that, and still has almost 400 members.

The positive side is that the main story will have continuation.

I'd rather have an ending and then do BBS 2.

If you do a part and disappear for years again, you will be sad.
