You got that right, MC is quite reserved when it comes to Ellie and especially Rachel, with others he/she is more open. But he also changes his behavior depending on the peoples he meets. I think the scene with Steph from the last update is a good example for that.

Perhaps a voice shifter. Couldn't be any worse than some of the monotone VA's I've heard.

I liked how the story progresses. Playing as a man and I would have to say, I like how he can be assertive with Katherine. And can't wait what happens with the MC's relationship with Ellie.
