Nowadays. The only games that are updated in 2 months are those hs model games or those renpy games with stock models, most games take time to update. People forget that the vast majority of devs do not make money at the level of icstor or other devs, so many have this as a hobby or side job and work alone in this, they cannot expect to have updates every 3 months. believing that devs are all milkers is really a very immature opinion.
But like 2-3 years back, it was not that uncommon to have one of the more decent games get updated every 2 months or even more often.
Rendering capabilities have improved a lot since then and I can understand people want to use these options now that the hardware is able to handle them.
There are multiple games where initially the idea was to decrease the rendering time with a new graphics card but most ended up using it to up the quality instead, so instead of the same schedule with more content or faster schedules where the rendering time was the limiting factor, not the coding - we now have better images, but also increased schedules.
And of course, there was some kind of high, where a lot of people had to stay at home and had time to work on a game on the side. With everything going back to normal, a lot of the more decent games seem to have gotten too much to be kept handled on the side now or got slower schedules because of this as well - so the pool of decent games has definitely been downsized.
So instead of following a good bunch of games and having alternating updates every 2-3 weeks for something out of that pool, it is now something every few months - and it feels like those schedules are more aligned now as well, so it is a long time of nothing, then 4 games being updated in a week and then months of nothing again.
