Off. Not wanting to play your own game after you have allegedly finished developing it is never a good sign.
Putting aside that it's not uncommon (and normal) for people to not want to play something they've spent a lot of time developing (at least for a little while), because, y'know, they've just been working on it for a long time... this is literally just the dev saying "development of this update is done, it's being tested now, here's the expected release date unless the testers find anything that would take very long to fix" :WaitWhat:

Oof. Not wanting to play your own game after you have allegedly finished developing it is never a good sign.
That's not what they said.
But I will take that as you never have written anything your self. When you know what words are coming next, you tend to not read it. You basically just see the first and last letter, the brain fills in the rest. Most ppl do this with everything they read, it just gets worse when you actually know what has been written. It's a form of pattern recognition.

It's not that they are not willing. It just helps when you have others to help take a look at it.
Also, when you work hard and put your heart into something, it's nice to get some feedback from ppl you trust before you send it out into the world.
I mean, you do know that game tester is a legit profession?

I help another dev with proofreading and editing. The first time he asked me to help, he said he already played through the latest update 30+times and felt like he was going mad. And I still found plenty of errors and mistakes.

Ahh... I'm sorry i didn't clarify my statement... I already finished 0.9.5 beta quite some time ago, (it was really good btw as always) but because of the cliffhanger at the end, i wanna find out what happens next already. Like, is there going to be 0.10 (non-beta release) someday soon? Will it be the one on the 18th, or will the 18th be the same story as 0.9.5 but just bug-free?

More than likely bug-free but with that one scene mentioned that was not finished and also the other scene they talked about corrected/added more umph to it.

The literal exact opposite of that is true.

A dev who playtests their own game is likely to miss a ton of bugs, because they know how things are "supposed" to work and will tend to play that way, so you'll get one "clean" path through the game and miss tons of other game-breaking bugs.

The whole point of getting other people to playtest your game is because they will play differently than you. They will play "wrong". They will do stupid things. They will complain about bad UI choices you've grown accustomed to. They'll notice mistakes in dialogue that you completely miss because you're used to seeing them and your brain doesn't even register anything wrong anymore.

In short, a dev shouldn't play their game after they finish an update. They should be forcing other people to play it for them. And then they should go back in and fix all the stuff those people manage to break.

Besides which, if you've been working on content for months (whether that content be a game, a movie, writing a novel, editing a longform YouTube, etc), odds are pretty high you're going to be burned out when you finish even if it's one of the greatest things ever made. Creators pretty much need to take breaks from time to time if they want to keep creating.

This is why you have testers:

A software tester walks into a bar.

He orders 1 drink . 2 drinks. 99999999 drinks. -57 drinks. 0 drinks. Xyz drinks . A coffee. A sandwich. Garbage. Null drinks.

Satisfied with the bartender's responses, he gives the OK and leaves.

A customer walks into a bar and asks to use the restroom. The bar goes up in flames.

I played this again from the start, as I haven't played it in a long time. I was a little disappointed with the lack of new content in such a long time to be honest, but it was fun to replay. I almost died laughing at the toilet paper part...

Was that scene in the game?? I don't remember it, but I'm on the female path. Who's the girl in the swing?

It's been a while, but I'm pretty sure having this scene and I'm also on the female path.
If I remember well, the girl on the swing is another Katherine patient. She has a rough life, and Katherine take some of her free times to give her some happiness. It's a way to see how our sexy therapist is a caring person.
