Oh hey, I thought I asked to get tagged if this thread is made! :D

are the images ai? they kinda look like it is
No, none of the characters are AI-generated, despite what the steam review says. Most of the AI art is creepy shit that's in a book behind SINGER. Like this:

I made a statement about AI-use here, if anyone actually cares:

Also, not sure why the cover image from OP has been apparently upscaled by AI, so I included an original here:

So...the actual gameplay of this is pretty bad.

It claims to be rouge-lite, yet doesn't actually have any meta-game mechanics. If you are defeated, you lose everything. All your equipment, all your gold, everything. That wouldn't be so bad if you got experience or something from fighting, but you don't. You need gold to level up. And since you can't leave without an item that only drops in a specific room (that you have to fight through of course), you can't even really argue that there is an element of risk vs reward.

All of that with enemies that not only outnumber you (normal for any rpg) but also deal more damage with a single attack (they can attack multiple times) then you can heal for.
It's an RPG with standard RPG progression mechanics (leveling up, upgrading the armory to hire lackeys, etc). You can also toggle off the rogue-lite or extraction mechanics if you don't like them. Talk to Singer in the commissary to level up. You'll need coin.

How do you mute the male narrator? Insufferable.
You can mute all the voices, it's an option in SINGER's reality settings.

Is it possible to just mute the male voice? I thought the option was all/nothing. It's my only hangup on an otherwise really fun game.
Yes unfortunately, muting voices actually mutes Sound Effects, so it mutes all voices. The alternative would be very tediously scripting it in every dialogue.

Are you saying that we can have a lady mc or are the women limited to only the companions?
You can have a lady mc. Just a note, right now the combat classes decide your sprite, but I may change that so players can choose their look in the future.

Nice to know. The mods really should add that tag to the game.

I really wanted to like this game because I love rpgs. The art is well done, the stacking equipment system is interesting and I do like that there are multiple classes that you can pick from. The combat is a bit on the rougher side but that could be overlooked if the characters and story are really interesting but sadly that isn't the case.

I know that humor is subjective but I just couldn't immerse myself into the story/characters because the dev seems to not take either of these aspects seriously at all. If it feels as if they aren't important to the dev than why should i care? The humor in the writing felt very forced and the only time it felt enjoyable was when Singer threated the narrator. The constant call outs to other games also doesn't help because they just make me think "why shouldn't I play that game instead". I did like talking to animals without having to take a perk at least.

As I said I really wanted to like this game but the aspects of rpgs that I enjoy the most(characters/story) are sadly the weakest part of this game. It was also a bit annoying to have to pick a dorm to join before even being able to spend real time with them to figure out who you think you'll like. I played the mage and went with the Wizard dorm because they were slightly more interesting than the other characters besides the tomboy princess tank(who I really wanted for mechanic and character reasons but I didn't really care for the other girl so I went with the wizard dorm.)

I also liked that it seems that players will be able to build up a base in the game and hopefully that is expanded on in the future. I really did enjoy Singer and was looking forward to seeing what her deal was but the writing for the other characters and the flat humor has sort of turned me off on the game. Now I think there is potential here I just wish the writing was more serious to get me to care for the world and it's characters since that's what I play rpgs for. Well that and blowing things up with magic.

As I said I think this game has potential if the dev can make players actually get invested in the world and it's characters. I would like to wish the dev good luck.

Thanks for your comments.

BSI is ultimately just a very short parody that I made half as a joke and half to test the new combat system.

It's not meant to be serious or have "real" worldbuilding, and even the characters are meant to be jokes. It makes much more sense if you've played my other games, I think.

OK so this is more like a test project for the new combat for your upcoming game. I think it was a bit tough but still enjoyable from what I did play. I believe I have played your other games and enjoyed what I saw(before computer died).

I was wondering what engine you made the game in and is this the combat you'll be using for the vampire/cyberpunk game you're making.

This is still RPGMaker MV. Yup, very similar combat system except it now needs to be migrated to Unreal. Some things will be removed or changed but the basics will be the same.

so when will the game finish ?
Probably this month. The extra crowdfunding stretch goals will come after 1.0 launch, as usual.
