I like Bare Witness, and I am fine with waiting (though it has been a really long time), and my personal approach is, I don't pay for this specific game (I might once it is finished and available on Gog.com, if the ending keeps up the same quality the game has), so I don't have a problem waiting (doesn't mean I wouldn't be happy if it was finished soon
).
But I swear, if I have to read that bullshit about only being allowed to have an opinion about something if you pay for it just one more time, I'm gonna barf.
Look, you can defend a game all you want, you can complain about people not knowing what's really going on, but please don't trot out that tired and incredibly stupid argumentation again and again.
No, you do not ever need to pay for something to have the right to an opinion. In fact, pretty sure if the people who constantly use this idiotic approach checked, they would see that they also have an opinion on things they don't pay for.
Probably you are telling yourself now that "well, I was only talking about complaining..." but see the point is, if you think people are allowed to have a positive opinion about something they don't pay for, then you can't just decide that having a negative opinion is not allowed. This isn't even debatable.
Whenever someone comes with this argumentation, what they really mean is, "but I like this game and I don't want to hear you badmouth it." But that would seem incredibly childish, so they go and hide it behind something that might seem a bit more adult and logical to others. Except that it isn't if you really look at it.
You don't have to pay for the right to complain, same as you don't need to be able to create a game yourself to see that a game isn't good.
People should be so absolutely embarrassed for using this illogical argumentation.
