Well, your correction is off a bit too. Rescueing Lolly definitely is 3 points, just checked it in the source. But you are right one out of the five of the points during the trip requires plant knowledge (from nerdy girl, the knowledge from Maria takes an extra hour making you too late for lifeguard duty as you need strengh training to defeat Mitch as well) from the library on day 3. So in a bit more detail for the trip points:
1 point for stay close to Maria, my thirst for knowledge...
1 point for Look out for a "Bostiboobicus Gigantus", let Maria know..., that requires the plant knowledge
