Neglected to info dump yesterday because I was busy, but Kom did a small short stream, and it really was an accumulation of... "Huh?"
So, if you're not in the know. Kom and his crew have been working on Volume 2- chapter 1, the in-game level editor, and trying to get the fucking mod site working.
During this stream, Kom mentioned more about his "BIG PLANS!" Mention the most insane shit, such as thinking about hiring a community manager, a charter for the levels, a musician, another coder, and a legal team. Now coder, and musician make sense... but what the fuck is he on about needing a fucking CHARTER. Beat Banger charting is not hard, and a professional community manager or someone looking into community management for what he wants as a 4-hour community event once per week, because VR-chat meetups or etc. Brother... the community has fucking DIED off because of the lack of communication, drama around Kom, lack of updates, etc. Right now, the bigger or better modders are doing other stuff, or made mod-making a low priority on their list now.
The game's stock market is going down. Finally, a fucking legal team. A FUCKING LEGAL TEAM. What the fuck is man on about? For some reason, he feels that his company NEEDS a legal team, for what? He never elaborated on that. He just says they need one for the future. Mind you, Kom is saying all this shit... and has not released the first level of the 2nd fucking ACT. I can't be the only one who thinks this is kind of, if not, fucking deranged thinking. This guy has been just working on a fucking level, with a small team, selling merch and getting money from it, and also from Patreon, doing VR-chat meetups every friday non-stop and states he has these big plans, and ending stream but also shilling his Patreon comparing it to YouTubers and the "Like and Subscribe" gunk.
He is either delusional, or a classic big idea businessman. It's really fucking insane that he has these ideas and needs, all while asking chatgpt about godot coding, declining modding community, declining interest in the game other than some big artsts such as GalacticMichi making another Kat mod and HMioKun making revamped level editions of the cast that will have a basic free version and then advanced version on his Patreon. Like, there are so many more issues that I can write a full essay on, but this should be enough for now.
Also, just in case you don't know. Komdog has renamed himself to Ken, which can be seen as him trying to erase Komdog and get a new identity so he can avoid those trying to cancel or keep the kom drama up. Of course, the people still upset kept an eye on him and knows he changed his identity, so...

That being said, I think he's getting ahead of himself by trying to put people in all of those job slots. Beat Banger worked as a result of his work. I think it's fine that he wants to get some people who are more dedicated to various things. Those things can be good for the game. Collaboration creates a lot of potential and adds to the ability for the game to get developed. But in general he seems to be taking a cart before the horse mentality because he's tasting success. This gives the impression that he wants to instead step back into management, which may not be a bad thing, but makes the future development of the game look more uncertain. If he spends too much time twiddling by rearranging things behind the scenes, interest in the game will get colder. He needs to moderate his planning vs his action better and take the reins on making the game. If Beat Banger falls off, Bunfan will having nothing to show for all that time and effort, which will only hurt all of his efforts in the long run.

Well that blows, legacy mods have been carrying this game like Atlas, what will happen to the legacy mods in bboru then? I doubt that he is planning to make them compatible with the newest versions.

So Komdog came down, mainly to talk about the update to the nightly build. But was not prepared for the angry modders, who were upset that Komdog not deleted legacy download from the itch.io page, or as he said... delisted it. Apparently he delisted it because there were YouTube scams about Beat Banger, and people thinking beat banger is still in legacy state. Of course, this missed the point and core issue, which was he didn't give a heads-up or actually announce he was going to remove legacy, and when pointed out... he didn't understand why he needed to announce it. Leading to two people timed out, and many crashouts.

For all the slack I cut him for actually reasonable reasons, he does need to check his soft ego. If he can't learn to take criticism or learn from feedback, or even at least try to understand backlash, he's not going to make it as a dev in the long run. This isn't the first time he's given the empty threat to cancel the thing when he got sour. Good leadership requires a cooler head.
It's not reasonable to respect the community's opinions enough to query them for the direction of the game's development, only to then not respect their opinions when they deviate from yours.

??? What the fuck? I took time to 'YouTube' Beat Banger, and there hardly is anything about Beat Banger in the YouTube algorithm. Besides a few 30-second advertisement games of it. Sounds like Korn/Ken is making up shit/pulling shit out of his ass for an excuse.

Update: Legacy can't be picked up that way anymore, but Kom isn't forbidding anyone from sharing it around. To that ends, one of the Discord mods put a zip file for legacy in the Help/FAQ area.

Not really. The modding communities pretty much have free rein with games. That is why you see other games with mods like known characterss in GTA5 (Simpsons, Kermit; think there is even Marvel characters.)
It only becomes an issue if modders try to make a profit off a mod. Like how Nintendo(as much hated as they are and I despise them as well) shut down a Patreon mod of turning Palworld into actual Pokémon. Though the person there had it coming cause he was an idiot making profit off a license franchise with his mod.
But then again, maybe Dev is paranoid of Nintendo going after him as well. I mean. It is Nintendo; I like to give them a very partial benefit of the doubt and say they will go after modders only if anything or modders are making profit off their mods. But again, it is Nintendo who is trigger-happy.
he probably needs a law team to advise on the fact that hes selling a game with multiple contributors who may or may not leave without much warning and its prudent to know where you stand legally when you sell something with someones voice work or music or art whos you are no longer employing/compensating. like they literally just had a main actress who voiced two of the five principal character bail.
