I keep coming back because i really like the art... and it's always Paul getting cucked in some way (i remember when the dev said something like "the little sister is out of the plans"... and now i come back, and i see a defloration scene with duncan, and an humiliation scene with Paul, among other shit like that... wtf is this shit?)... it is that hard to make two paths of the same scenes?.

For example, you can just do the same scene with Paul and keep one with Duncan, make it a path, and nobody will give a fuck, because they are not going to select that one with Duncan. (or they will, because there's always fans for that)

But the thing is... the dude apparently refuses to do that with Paul, and i don't understand why, it's easy money... i just insane, i don't get it.

idk why the fuck some devs do shit like this. This is why there are a lot of chimp outs within fanbases when it comes to nsfw games imo, just fucking around with people for no logical reason.

Not meaning to be disagreeable, but why is it so important? In the end, whether it's Paul or Duncan, you're still seeing her have sex with another character. I mean, I understand the power of self-insert, but it's still drawings of her and another character, whomever that is.

but for kicks i was tempted to make the wincest argument, but after thinking about it i'm near entirely sure it's because of the player character is paul. when someone is attracted to a character they typically want them for 'themselves' in this case paul because we control his actions. (and paul in btd is pretty damn hallow making him an easy self insert if not his only use in the game )

of course that could also be the other aspects could be the reason as well, such as paul peeping on his sister (those that insert as paul but dislike cest), or the more voyeur or cuck like elements with paul beating his meat while peeping.

though i would think the biggest issue is the lack of player agency in that part. you got no choice while viewing it, just viewing it or not. which is pretty jarring for a power fantasy. could've been very different with a [paul enters] and maybe also a [paul leaves] option. (at least i don't remember there being a disengage option last i played) on a personal level it bugs me i can't boldly enter even if the result still ends up in no sex or sex acts. it would amuse me to irritate alia and maybe cause more sexual frustration so she might later accept sex with paul.

You're right that I kinda knew the answer. It just amazes me how important self-insert is for some people, I guess I tend to underestimate its importance. But, besides self-insert, you make very valid points about the lack of control over the scene since the character involved is not the MC. That I can more easily see.

I always play as a third party, an spectator POV. Doesn't matter if it's a drawing/render/(even text), it's not me. I'm in my room polishing the short sword lmao. But some people really do self-insert. I'll never be able to understand their perspective.

Although from a game dev angle, I do agree games should offer a bit more agency than simply clicking and watching scenes. That's why for me VNs are their own thing apart from games (and rpgm "games" can be VNs too, just because you move around a map it's still clicking and watching scenes).

I also play as an audience, and view AVN games generally like a narrative form, only one that's lewd. But yeah, the point is to be a participative audience. For me the interactivity and the choices are not about being a character in the story, but about being able to shape it and "create" it with my choices.
