"Self-insertion is a literary device in which the author writes themselves into the story under the guise of, or from the perspective of, a fictional character. The character, overtly or otherwise, behaves like, has the personality of, and may even be described as physically resembling the author of the work."
Playing a game in the first person role of the protagonist has absolutely nothing to do with this. Quite frankly, this is the intended way to play a game, to be the main character for the duration of the game. This also goes along with the "suspension of disbelief" which is the basic requirement to enjoy and mentally participate in any form of fictional media.
People unable to do this may actually suffer from some sort of autism or otherwise be incapable of the required human empathy for a roleplay, perhaps that's something to think about.
I thought it meant "MC's dick is inserted" but it was a derogatory expression.

I'm just curious, since the way "self-insert" is used here is actually useful for discussions, what term would you use to signify when a player identifies with the MC so much as to feel a participant rather than an spectator?

Yeah, heard about it yesterday. That man gave me the first glimpses of weirdness with his work when I was a kid. I feel really sad he passed away.

holy shit did David actually pass!?Yeah, heard about it yesterday. That man gave me the first glimpses of weirdness with his work when I was a kid. I feel really sad he passed away.
Such a shame, other than his knack for a good game, he was a seriously talented artist, artsyle was gorgeous.

We're talking about David Lynch, the movie director. He passed away on January 15th from emphysema.
He was the man who directed the 1984's Dune movie (among many others). His work on that movie was an influence on Balsamique's Behind the Dune, and obviously on Cryo's Dune game, which is the one BtD spoofs.
Stephane Picq has died. He was the author of the original game's soundtrack that's used in the parody as well. RIP.

Kemono only has old stuff, but looking at it anyway, it caught my attention that Balsamique's AI experiments look like children, or little-girl-faced women. What's up with that? He draws so many regular women that I didn't think he had that much interest in younger faces.
