I take it you're not one of those complaining about Episode 11 having too many previews? Man, the rants on here after the big preview dump with the Steam page announcement was crazy.

DPC must stop developing Episode 11 to redesign Episodes 1-10 to have Rooster theme sensitive to the theme on the player's computer!

The funny thing is DPC keeps complaining about how he doesn't want to share previews because of the spoilers, but he spoiled every single big lewd scenes for MGs with those Steam previews

And that's the problem. Some of you see this as "just a VN" or "just a porn game", and you can't accept that it's more to him. He's not doing this just for you guys, he's doing it because he enjoys doing it and you guys can't accept that. You want a quick factory product.

I think whoever is behind the game just has the "grace of early birth" in the sense that there are a lot of games here that are equal or better but development started later. In my youth, a finished video game cost around 50 dollars ... It's crazy what some people pay for a beta these days.

It's how each one of us would be like to be allowed to work. At our own pace, with our own priorities, having our monthly check no matter how slow we are. Being our own only boss.

Wouldn't you like to work like that? I certainly would. But I can't because I haven't succeed in creating a fanbase willing to pledge me monthly 10+ $

He succeeded in it, so he can.

Why should he be faster?
Why should he take orders from someone, when he has 13k+ people willing to give him money for what he is doing the way he is doing it?

The 2 things you folks were discussing aren't mutually exclusive, they can happen at the same time.

Doing a job you actually like and getting paid for it, isn't easy to achieve, afterall a job is still a job and the grind can make even the best of jobs feel like... well an actual job.

If to achieve that a self employed person decides to work slower, all the better for them (they get more money), and ultimately also for us, works done by people who love what they are doing tend to come out better.

It's not a beta, he releases episodes of the game. Every episode is a finished product. With betas, they add and change things later on but when he releases an episode, it's done.
Also, if nobody had supported him, Being a DIK would never have existed.

In general comparing VNs to $50 videogames is never going to work, the closest one might get to it is by looking at some indie games on Itch.io (or what used to be Desura), but if you ever followed them you'd know how long those would take to develop.

Any other and faster development process requires more folks, and folks are a cost.
