Maybe after he resigns, then the video gets leaked by the mystery party: once again the DIKs have ruined the reputation and career of another teacher, and even tore apart a prominent family. Not probably. Definitely. If Stephen has the video he offers Jade a 90-10 split. If you don't show the video to the DIKs or don't fuck Jade in the first place he offers a 50-50 split.

the only thing they have in common is that they probably came through Rusty's laptop.

but the methods and effects were completely different. with Cathy there's someone who actively took the photo only to have Rusty take the blame afterwards, a rather reckless and risky action.

whereas with Jade's video it's a much more judicious operation, getting the video shot (or commissioned) to whoever would gain the most from it. and Burke hardly has any interest in the footage becoming public: it's one thing to threaten to use it, it's another to actually do it, he'd lose out too.

If the Cathy Cluck and Jade video are truly unrelated incidents, then that's quite a coincidence. It's like if someone is robbing your house, and at the same time someone else is breaking into your car. Plus fucking Jade AND sharing the video are not canon events, so another party being behind the leak/Stephen having access to the DIKs' files would still need to be explained on other paths. If it's all connected, it's easier to explain.

if you suffer two thefts to say that the thief is the same seems to me quite a gamble...

those are 2 actions that have very little in common apart from Rusty's laptop (and for Jade it's not 100% certain) as a method and intentions. so instead of explaining who else did it you should explain why

I see it as equally complicated to explain why Cathy's photo is published without a second thought, while Jade's much more striking video is instead kept hidden or even ‘donated’ to Burke

is Burke the culprit? then you have to explain to me why he wanted to ruin Cathy too
was it Nick/Vinnie? then you need to explain to me their connection to Burke.

the only profile that fits both of them is the Nerds, but there you have to invent a whole new story, putting a whole new pawn on the chessboard.

I'm not saying it's not possible that there's only one culprit, just that it's not such an obvious deduction, even taking into account DPC's habit of deliberately inserting false clues

Writer's block is a very good and very common reason. No amount of staff can speed things up if he doesn't have instructions for them.
