But most of those are nearly useless half information. They say nothing about how much work has been done, only how many are in queue at the moment. Take, 25/10, as an example, 3 animations in queue say nothing.
27/12 say 55 animations in queue so that makes it look like he's only rendered 11 since 13/12, but looking at the posed number, we can see that he added 3 animations since 13/12 meaning he finished 14. Without the posed count, how many are left in queue say very little.
What would him saying 50 left in queue tell us if he had posed 10 new animations but doesn't tell us the posed number?
When I say "count", I mean animations in queue AND how many posed.
Nah again that's bollocks. Its not useless at all. He gives us enough information to be able to make deductions or at least sensible guesses.
Between 08/11 and 15/11 the animation queue dropped by 9 (we don't know if any had been added, we don't know the length, we don't know anything, I'll give you that) but we have a baseline of 9 a week
between the 15/11 and the 29/11 - the animation queue had decreased by 8. 2 weeks had passed, and we do not know if any had been added but based on the above information we could assume that the rendered count over the 2 weeks should have dropped by 18. So here we can assume he's added 10 or these are longer animations.
and so on and so on...
Now you can do this throughout the year and people do - the average animation count is some where between 4 and 8 the last I checked.
so what would him saying there is 50 left in the queue tell us? well based on the averages and the last render count he has only decreased his render queue by 5, this is despite at last information the static queue being done, so having a computer freed up. so based on the already determined averages he's working on the pace of 1 computer... and at best there is 10 - 12 weeks to go.
Are they going to be accurate guesses, absolutely not... but they are based on the data provided to us over a long period of time so they are not going to be far-fetched guesses either.
I find it suspect that as we are getting closer to release, he withholds a piece of information that can give us any kind of inkling of just what pace he's on. Hence why I said without the reader count I'm putting the release in March and not February.
