A lot of people seem to think the blond guy is the MC's grandfather since it seems to be the same model as the short half-headed glimpse we got. It is weird that DPC would be so sloppy as to use that same model (and suit) just for some random guy. Wild idea: MC's grandparents aren't rich anymore. They were screwed over in some way that was hard to prove illegal. The people responsible included Stephen Burke and Geoff Royce. Lynette and Neil running away was a result of the legal mess and may have been why Lynette wasn't getting all the medical care she needed.
Later on Lana Royce found out about the group's misdeeds and was determined to bring them to justice including her father, but one of the more criminal minded members of the group had her killed. They also threatened to kill Jill too unless the Royces kept their mouths shut. This is the main reason for Geoff's heavy drinking.
I'm not sure how Mr Patrick Bailey and Mrs Monica Taylor or possibly former Mrs Iris Taylor were involved, but investigative reporter James Roberts disappeared soon after Lana's diary led him to some evidence.
If MC plays his cards right he will get the harem end out of it.
