Poor, poor Zoey. Gets 100% of the blame for what happened, no one ever remembers how MC never voiced his feelings, or kept his texts short and didn't really express any positivity, or didn't do more to try and keep the friendship alive. All relationships are a two-way street. Zoey thought she was doing him a favor, and MC basically accepted the idea that she moved on/abandoned him. Nothing happens if you do nothing. But Zoey is the one who has to grovel and beg for forgiveness because MC is our boy.
Oversimplified the whole thing, but you get my point.
Turns out two teenagers struggle to understand their emotions and articulate them. Who'd have thought.
Zoey fucked up, MC fucked up, and now they're a bit more emotionally mature they're working on those issues
True. But her being callous in her texts then simply not responding is a bit different than that. He HAD to accept that she moved on. It was eating him alive. As he mentions checking his phone for her texts all the time. It wasn't healthy. I'd imagine it went something like this.
"I need to let her know how I feel. I should probably let her settle in a bit first. Why is she so short with me? Does she care about me at all or was she using me? Why isnt she texting back? She's always posting on Rooster about her new friends but wont talk to me. Is she dating that guy? Seriously why isnt she texting back? Maybe if I leave her alone she'll text me if she cares. She doesn't care. I need to block her."
Callous? Could you be more specific, because she tried to express her happiness at the time and MC would not "share in her joy" according to her. MC is the kind of guy to say "I'm fine" when he's hurting, and Zoey doesn't like to talk about feelings. She notices that they're drifting apart before deciding to cut him off for good, and I can see why.
That kind of thinking is ultimately self-destructive and just shifts the blame.
Well Zoey was the one who chose to end it, so yes, she is the one who has to apologize. What was MC supposed to do? Stalk her? Because that is what it would have been.
It's not very healthy for MC to be fixated on this. Obsession. Our guy is too easily wounded and takes things close to heart. If you don't get out of this emotional state, it can end badly with a fall to the emotional bottom, fortunately he got out.
Ngl the entire EP9-10 could of survived without her. Just feels like a tossed in plot device.
Didn't think her 'prologue' story was really needed either.
Never did understand why so many do the classic "gf left and now returns" trope. As so many don't even have it build up overtime then leaving, its just the very first scene. In that scenario why would I have anymore connection to her than someone just as brand new and connects more with.
Maybe he should of brought her back earlier to actually sell me on conflicting options but now at E9 its like, meh.
He can, but she was a great refresh for the game and added new challenges for the MC + we got a great alt-girl option for the MC. But to each his own.
Her prologue served as a setup for Zoey personality to add some variety, how that will work we'll see. Could be done better with Interlude, I think.
Yet a very realistic portrayal of a first love, with its fears and doubts, granted irl it usually happens much earlier in life between 13-15yo rather than 18-19yo, but still. I appreciate how its done.
The problem is the audience that has a bias for the MC. It is what it is in this genre, thats why I advice people, if you are planning to do an AVN have the MC make the mistake that ends the relationship, people will forgive him faster than a LI. The moment a LI makes a mistake she is dead for a lot of people and nothing will ever change their minds, because the MC made the mistake against an NPC, but the LI made the mistake against THEM.
I am still shocked DPC didn't just used her as immediate relationship drama, like most people feared, he handled her so well the she skyrocketed for me into top 3 waifus. Hope he sticks the landing both on the closure and romance routes.
At the end of episode 10, she finally realizes what her relationship with the MC was really like before her “Interlude”. It wasn't just two teenage friends discovering sex together. They were in love. She followed her dream, it got messed up, and she comes back and realizes that her dream was illusory (I'm not sure how to put this) and that it also cost her the MC (potentially).
For me, we don't need to have any more discussion of the MC on this subject. His discussion with Bella and the way he reacted when he thought she had a boyfriend is enough to show how he feels about Zoey. In the last episode, she finally realizes this, at the same time as she realizes it was the same for her.
Things really need to move forward with Zoey in the next episode. There needs to be a clear discussion between her and the MC, at the end of which they either move on (just friends) or get together.
A big problem here is that if the MC is with a MG, how do you deal with that situation? Which makes me worry that it won't happen right away (you have to reduce the story content before adding this kind of content-intensive event) or that the player won't have much choice (if with a MG, Zoey remains just a friend).
(Or maybe all that extra development time has been put to good use...)
NebulousShooter .
My subjective opinion. Our guy was already saved by the time the game started. He was a bit vulnerable and hysterical, which is normal for a 19 year old, he was unsure of what he wants. But his friendship with Zoey really saved him from turning into a Nika Cyrus dark version, who would one day come to school with AR-15 and homemade bombs.
Guy was a nobody without friends, suffering from bullying. She pulled him out of the hole and added bright colors to his life, which improved his mental state and changed him for the better. He suffered from Zoey departure, but he dealt with it, earlier version of him would hardly have been able to do this, and even more unlikely to talk to Josy ever.
Josy helped him distract himself when several months had already passed after Zoey left, but "saved him" is too much for her. He barely spoke to her until the events of the game start, even though they worked together all summer and she was just crush for him. How long had it been since Zoey left? I estimate more than half a year.
Seriosly, our guy should stop crushing on every girl he see and thinking that this is something serious![]()
Shit, Being A DIk? more like being gossip girl, I hope that zoey drama gets resolved at once...who am I fooling DPC will drag it out as long as he can.Well I think because other than Zoey MC did not have a proper relationship that's why he is crushing in every woman he interacted with thinking that they have an interest with him. In short he is a "Man Whore"
