Did you have the text conversation with Elena the next morning? There's a couple of options in there, you can shut the talk down and just be friends, or you can indicate that you are interested and keep the conversation going, she'll talk to you about it after Thanksgiving.

There's been a few moments here and there in the previous episodes that have hinted at MC fucking Elena becoming a possibility. If you stay with Sage, you can make a joke about having sex with Elena. She tells John Boy about it, and later at the Cathy Cluck party he brings it up with you, and seems to to be flattered you want to bang his girl.
Then later in Episode 6 while exploring the mansion for the first time, you walk in on Elena totally naked. If you decide to check her out, JB takes it in stride and tells Elena to show off a little for MC. Also on Halloween, if you're friends then Elena will share that JB loves it when guys check her out.
And of course, there's Elena's special shot at the dorm party. It's necessary to become friends with her, but it's also needed for JB's proposal. And of course, JB liked it when she slapped your ass.

Open relationships are a real thing, and while not for everyone (I'm not good about sharing, myself), it doesn't necessarily mean that they have a bad relationship. They both seem really into one another, but also really into having fun. The only reason Elena doesn't want to do the MC is that she doesn't want to risk, not the relationship with JB, but the friendship with the MC. I really hope that JB and Elena don't explode, because it's rare to see other characters in these games with that type of happy open relationship. Heck, Elena's conversation with the MC at the table triggers the Choice. There's real emotional intelligence in both characters.

I find them really sweet, and great people. It doesn't even feel like NTR, because they're so chill about it. I would love to hang with them IRL, but probably wouldn't get in bed with them. I used to be into group sex, but only with people I didn't feel shit about, it was literally more like mutual masturbation with holes.

Elena is great, but I wouldn't want an exhibitionist as a gf. It is better that she stays with John since they work well together. And I will def. have MC take the opportunity to bed her, since John approves and all. But just as 1 time thing. Don't want to cause drama between the two.

That's where you really need to be careful with what you change. At the start of each free roam a task list is generated for you to do. If the variables you have changed add or remove something from your task list and that doesn't match something you changed inside the free roam, you are going to have problems.
