My theory on it is that there isn't a single traitor.I have seen a similar sentiment from the whole "DrPinkCake is a perfectionist" crowd, but i honestly don't get why people think that nick is a red herring... It doesn't seem too obvious for anyone who hasn't played this game a bunch of times (and i sure as hell missed it on my first couple of playthroughs). With the content that we were given, he honestly seems like the only viable option for the DIK traitor, and anyone else being the bad guy wouldn't really make sense without the foreshadowing (which we know DPC loves to do even from his previous game).
Yeah, the clues about Nick are a bit on-the-nose sometimes (his room being the only one left unruined), but as a whole nick just doesn't seem like a character who has a lot going for him besides being shady, and i feel like that might be his only purpose for the game as a whole. He's a really forgettable character if you look past him being sus (which is exactly why i feel like people dismiss him as a red herring, because the impact of his betrayal wouldn't be as jarring as any other DIK)
The Cathy Cluck and Derek's room (and the Jade video if you went that path) are by remote hackers, maybe the nerds who are getting revenge for all of the wedgies. I seen a theory that the nerds used to hang at the Mansion before the Dik's bought it, waiting 3 years for revenge is strange but who knows.
The mansion getting smashed was Caleb, and the embarrassing photos are the dorm room girls who are getting revenge for the walk of shame and that sort of stuff.
I can't imagine the Dik's are particularly popular outside of parties
